AMD Renames Another ATI Product

ATI Radeon X300, X550 and X600 gets renamed

HKEPC reports AMD is once again renaming another ATI product. This time around AMD is renaming the RV370 graphics core which powered ATI Radeon X300, X550 and X600 graphics cards.

The value oriented product will be renamed and have a single model—the ATI Radeon X1050. Current RV370 based products can be converted to ATI Radeon X1050’s with a simple graphics BIOS update.

IMO, this is insane. Those two video cards belong to different generation. They don't have Shader Model 3 support as all the other X1xx0 series cards do. AMD are acting weirdly lately. :rolleyes:

True. But I hate when they do that. Instead, they could have released a lower clocked X1300.

Marketing is different than computing.Think for a moment that AMDs best chipsets were produced by nVidia.After seeing the great value of chipsets AMD has bought over ATI(Its canadian based-long distance from Germany) to fight over nViia graphics & chipsets which produced a great value to customers.

And what's so crazy is that AMD's QuadFX has only nVidia chipset based motherboards at the moment. None from ATI. :baffled:

Anusha ayya thats the prob with me too.What the hell is AMD doing with having one of the best two chipset makers in hand?They know processors' cons & pros.what they r capable of.Its like playing for India while a member of pakistan team.

Havin the best from both worlds dude.. with proper compatability all around their customer base would be greater.. especially wit nvidia specific chipsets supporting AMD.. wit da acquisition of ATI i d suppose their main interest would be 2 combine both technology n develope da future o processors.. CPU + GPU... it would be far easier havin two departments collaboratin rather dan 2 companies.. n dere acquisition would be a good strategy to do so..

AMD got some thorough manufacturin processes under dere sleeves.. if they replicate it in da form o GPUs am sure it would b a much stronger competitor dan wut it is now.. wit da 8800 though.. ATI has fallen back quite a bit..
