I am using a one like that..

I voted for MSI.
from 2002 to now I have only used MSI MOBOs & Video cards.Never let me down.
My older mobo which is an AMD,K7TTurbo2 Limited is still working. Now it is almost 5.5 years:)It is a surprice to me.I used that board without a casing too.It was on my table for two months.Just ran:rolleyes::rolleyes: I think it might be very happy to leave me:D:D

Lack of overclocking on the low end motherboards from Gigabyte makes them unappealing. Same with Intel motherboards. IMO, highend motherboards from either Gigabyte or Asus cost just about the same - over Rs.25,000 :( :(

zCexVe
12-18-2006, 10:02 PM
In many over 30k too.but the surpricing thing is after about 6 months of the boards release when the price dropped down in a large piece it doesnt come here.Or when came it is still the released price..

Anusha
12-18-2006, 10:07 PM
Only on is over 30k right? (I mean from the ones available here). Can't remember the exact model though. Asus P5....something, that has the remote controller as well.

Gigabyte's DQ6 is an awesome board - the best motherboard they have made so far IMO. It's also close to 30k

well i look opposite ust coz i like amd.i liked nvidia since last year.it went down and down now i think its time for me to go ATI :):).AMD bought ATI so that the powerful gpus will work more powerful in AMD based pcs.ut sadly i have an nvidia nforce 4 X16 SLI chipset.:(:(i dont know it is very compatile with ATI:confused::confused::confused:

But this is the 945 chipset :(

So what?

Anusha
12-18-2006, 10:55 PM
fx series beat them easily..

Only in current games (not even in the upcoming multi-core optimized games). In almost everything else, X2 is superior - even the 3600+
And you can overclock the 3600+ to around 2.5-2.7GHz. That will be almost as fast as a FX-57 in single threaded appz.

Anusha
12-18-2006, 10:56 PM
So what?

By that I didn't mean the chipset is shabby, but the motherboards are not new. So they don't have the latest and the greatest in terms of features nor performance.

zCexVe
12-18-2006, 11:04 PM

shanX
12-18-2006, 11:05 PM
Is FX series cpu's too pricey?

Anusha
12-18-2006, 11:09 PM
You can't overclock an FX that much, because they have already got to the peak. Maybe up to 3GHz if you have very good cooling.

Yeah, FX is like the Intel Extreme = pricy!!. FX has an unlocked multiplier, and some say that the memory controller has some tweaks than the regular Athlon64.

Usage of fans shows how themally inferior their products are
Wouldn't you feel if you had a fanless heatsink solution for your CPU than otherwise? I would love to have a fanless solution.

Sure, the northbridge heatsink heats up a lot. On mine, it's warmer than the CPU heatsink.

yeah.U think i lie?alright last week i gave my frnd a Kingston 512MB DDR2RAM for 6200 Rs with 5 years. before that week A PATA 2 USB with all the packings for 1900rs with 6 months,A core duo 2.66 for 13250 rs with 1 year,A asic ASUS for 6750 with pci-e,4 ram slots ,1 year.Is it gud or bad ?

Anusha
12-19-2006, 11:27 PM
It can't be a Core Duo. It has to be a Pentium-D 2.66GHz. Some people bought that CPU for Rs.11,000 with 3 year warranty,

zCexVe

Of course I'm right there. You know, Core Duo was only released to Laptops and the max speed was 2.33GHz. It's the Core 2 Duo that was released to the desktops. 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo is over US$500!!!

These are the only ones that supports overclocking on Intel's end. Sure there was the D875PBZ which allowed a mere 5% overclock. But these allow 30% or more. These are for the enthusiasts. But whoever has so much money to spend on a motherboard will definitely look at the comparable Asus or Gigabyte products. I know I will.

Anusha ayya I have D875PBZ board. there isa feature in BIOS to OC,but they giv a warning when i went to enable it.

Ignore those warnings. How ahead with the overclock. It's just 4%, so you should be fine. I think just raising th FSB by 4% would do the job.

Yup. This is because they are called Conroe Refresh models, not Core 2 Refresh models. You know, there are two versions of Core 2 Duos for desktop. One is Alendale, and the other one is the well known Conroe. The 2MB ones are Alendale models (E6300, E6400). All Conroe models have 4MB cache (E6600 and up).

It's not the motherboard that provide the integrated video capability. It's the chipset. Intel chipsets are awesome; there's no doubt about it - even better than nVidia's imo. nVidia chipsets suck in a lot of power.

Just their (Intel's) motherboards are not attractive except the flagship model.

Have you seen the BIOS setup of an Intel mobo? That's pathetic imo, compared to AMI or Award BIOS Setup programs.

Yeah, but they don't have a huge product range. :( I think they are the only company yet to release a RD600 chipset based motherboard. Check out a review here:

Wonder what nVidia are doing. I mean, their video cards consume less power than ATI's cards (except GF8800 which cannot be compared to any of the cards from ATI). But that advantage is gonna go away with the chipset's high power draw.

I just saw that AltecLansing southAsia site has SriLanka tab on it.And the reseller is Mitech. They have given about 40 products that r available in SL there.
Do u knw what letters r there for the names of AltecLansing 5.1 systems?[in the code name; the first two letters or a number in the middle?]

GF8800 consume more power than ATI 1950 in idle... on load they are same....

When NVIDIA’s GeForce 8800GTX compared to AMD’s ATI Radeon X1950 XTX, the GeForce 8800GTX only consumes 24% more power at idle. The power consumption differences under load decreases to around 4%. Considering the performance differences, the GeForce 8800GTX is no worse than AMD’s ATI Radeon X1950 XTX in terms of performance-per-watt....

Even at full load, GF8800 consume a little bit more tha X1950XTX (around 5-10W)

True. Hell, Geforce 7950GX2 consumes less power than a X1950XTX - that's two GPUS and 1GB RAM.

Huh? They wouldn't even be here? Both those cards are already available in Sri Lanka. If I had money, I would have definitely bought that 7950GX2 for Rs.75000!!!!

Why power consumption? Because most of our parents are strict on hgh electricity bills.
