Now I get it. I didn't vote for any company because,
1. we can't find any performance memory in Sri Lanka (only value ones)
2. I think it's a waste of money, because they are soooo expensive than the value versions, with a negligible performance increase. you can get better performance if you spent that excessive money on a better CPU or a video card.

If it was for ValueRAM, then I would have chosen Kingston, because my DDR2-667 can work at DDR2-800 speed without increasing the voltages (1.8V default) nor loosening the timings. This applies to all the 3 RAMs I have in my PC.

strange combination:rolleyes:
doesnt Dual channel DDR technology require two identical rams been installed in the two RAM slots?
Anusha
12-20-2006, 11:35 PM
However, if you really want to know the fastest RAM out there, it's the OCZ Flex XLC: PC2-9200. They can work at 1172MHz at 2.35V (0.55V more than default for DDR2- yikes!) However, most enthusiast level of RAM can eve work at 1300MH on nForce 680SLi chipset based motherboards. Weird!

Nope, at least on new motherboards. You only need to have identical amount of RAM (with same density chips) on each channel. In may case, it's 512+512 on channel 1 and 1024 on channel 2.

They were the fastest when they were released. They are PC-8888 (The DHX variant). But OCZ Flex XLC is PC-9200 which is a little bit faster, in terms of memory bandwidth.

Yes. That's exactly why we shouldn't waste money on these RAM. Sure if you are gonna spend Rs.1,000,000 on the PC, then maybe you would want to put the highest end component in each area. (provided that he already bought Core 2 Quad X6700, two Geforce 8800 GTXs in SLi etc.). ;)

Anyway.... if u like to use Crossfire Technology use CrossFire certified memory ...now Crucial,OCz also had that kind of memory
-- Crucial’s CrossFire Certified memory maximizes performance of CrossFire platform --
Meridian, Idaho, and Glasgow, UK, 18 December, 2006 – Crucial Technology today announced the immediate availability of CrossFire™ Certified Ballistix® and Ballistix Tracer® DDR2 modules. CrossFire Certified memory modules have been tested to meet AMD’s high quality standards.
AMD’s certification program requires extensive testing of all parts on the CrossFire platform to ensure interoperability, reliability and stability. Only products that pass these stringent tests earn the right to use the “CrossFire Certified” logo.
“CrossFire Certified memory ensures compatibility in CrossFire-enabled systems, allowing for the stability and piece of mind customers have come to expect from Crucial Technology,” said Jeremy Mortenson, Crucial’s DRAM product marketing manager. CrossFire Certified Ballistix and Ballistix Tracer DDR2 memory are available in 512MB and 1GB modules, as well as in 1GB and 2GB kits, at http://www.crucial.com/ballistix or http://www.crucial.com/uk/ballistix.

I don't think it will happen in the near future. It will take a long time for that to happen - at least until AMD Fusion rolls out.
But you know, having the better chipset is not so important, when the CPU itself is not even close to performance of the rival's (Intel's) similarly priced CPUs.

Forgot to mention one thing. I wonder why Intel only supports Crossfire on their chipsets. I mean, AMD is their rival. AMD have bought ATI. ATI should be their rival too. At least, the neutral nVidia technologies should be given a higher priority, than its rival's. I wonder if it will change with Intel Bearlake chipset.
