Visas

A visa is issued for the purpose of a short stay (less than 3 months) in Denmark and other Schengen countries. Employment is not permitted during the stay covered by the visa.

Foreign citizens who are exempted from basic visa requirements can stay, but not work, in the Schengen region up to 3 months.

Residence and Work Permits

For sojourns longer than 3 months as well as stays in connection with studies or employment, including work as au pair, a residence and/or work permit is required. However, special rules apply to citizens from the Nordic Countries, the EU Member States as well as Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA FOR DENMARK
Lebanese citizens can apply for a visa to Denmark at the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut
or at the Danish Embassy in Damascus.

Please note:

It is recommended to apply at the Norwegian Embassy, since the Norwegian Embassy in Beirut is for the moment able to give an appointment for visa applications within not more than one week, where as the Embassy of Denmark in Damascus is for the moment operating with a waiting time of about eight weeks to get an appointment when applying for any type of visa.

The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beirut is located in the Embassy Complex, Serail hill, Down Town, Beirut

Phone: (+961) 1 960 000 - press 1 for visa section
Fax: (+961) 1 960 098
E-mail: [email protected]

It is the Danish Immigration Service in Copenhagen
which decides whether a visa can be granted. Danish citizens who wish to invite relatives to Denmark for a visit should fax an invitation to the Embassy. For information regarding the required content of the invitation please see below.

Procedures to follow:

1) An invitation must be send from Denmark. The invitation must include a guarantee for all expenses associated with the applicant's stay in Denmark and a signature.
For more information please see below. If the application is submitted to the Norwegian Embassy the invitation has to be legalized by a notarius publicus in Denmark.

2) When the invitation has been received by the Norwegian Embassy or The Danish Embassy in Damascus, the applicant should contact the Norwegian Embassy or The Danish Embassy in Damascus by phone ((+963) (11) 61909001) or e-mail ([email protected]) in order to make an appointment.

3) The appointment: The applicant should come to the Embassy bringing the relevant documents. The applicant completes the visa application form and the Embassy will send it to the Danish Immigration Service.

4) The applicant should contact the Norwegian Embassy or the Danish Embassy in Damascus when a decision has been made by the Danish Immigration Service in Denmark (after approx. 4-6 weeks).

5) If a visa has been granted, the applicant should contact the Embassy once again for an appointment whereupon the visa can be issued.

You can get the specific application form at the Danish Embassy in Damascus, or you can download the application form from the homepage of The Danish Immigration Service.
