I don't think Intel Chipsets support nVidia SLI. I think they only support Crossfire, but not sure even 945 supports it. To get SLI, you have to have a motherboard based on an nVidia SLI chipset.

I only have support for SLi.
2 X16 slots, one powered by nVIDIA C51D chipset & other by nVIDIA nForce4 SLi x16 chipset..
Just curious what would be the cheapest card duo that can have SLi with reasonable performance...

If you are looking at cards like that, maybe you should get a single card like 7600GT or 7900GS. They will always perform better than two 7600GS's.

No point men. 6600GTs are too old. But if you have one already, then OK.

So that means we hav to go for 7xx0 Gx cards?
And what about ATI?
A Q 4 Anusha..
How would ATI crossfire will perform in an evironment designed for SLi?
will they work?

There isn't a big difference. You still encounter some titles where Crossfire is worse than a single ATI card and SLI is worse than a single nVidia card. That's either because of the lack of game's support or lack of driver support or even both. If you ask me, I'd like to have a high end single card rather two cards.

Hmmm. you have to ask that from Intel  It might change in the future as ATI is owned by AMD.

it means i cant use SLi feature:confused: is that connect with m.board. r u sure that intel 945 board not suppor 4 SLi
The clock speeds are very differant in most cards, so u hav to be careful in buying cards. in desktops nvidia perform musch better than ati... sli is better than crossfire.

Yeah, not even 975 or 965 support SLI.

hat's not always true. ATI wins in some. nVidia wins in some. I'll try to find an article where they compare them head to head.

I found two articles, but they only compare the highest end models (excluding GF8800 as the articles are older than them)
Seven Games and One Week: Games vs. GPUs (http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/display/7games-gpus.html)

But, wouldn't someone who has a monster gaming rig boast about it a little bit more than "mine NVIDIA"? I'm not saying that he doesn't have one, but I would like to know which cards he had in it.

Hehe. Not really. Most of them are ruch, of course, and they get stuff cheaper than us. Still, there are more people who like to go with a single highend card rather than SLI or XFire. Of course if you need a monster rig, then you have to put two highend cards in SLI.
There are people who don't have a lot of money too, because the cost of living is very high.
