Doesn't the game CD have DX9 setup?

I think it only restarts if you have a different version or build of DirectX (eg: 8.1, 9.0b etc.). It will not restart if you already had a previous version of DirectX 9.0c. The latest builds only put some new files, but it's still the 9.0c which was released with SP2.

SP2 installs DirectX 9.0c. But some games need some files which were not originally included in the DirectX package. But if you really installed the latest version of DirectX9.0c (did it say anywhere DirectX 9.0c December Update?), those new files should be there in system32.

Does the game notify that specific files are missing? Usually it should. If so, then you can download them from the internet. Just google for those files.

I also had the same problem. Its not the game....its actually the operating system. The OS I had could not update directx from 9b to 9c. But then i installed a later version of XP with directx9c. It worked.  :D

But doesn't SP2 come with DirectX 9.0c?

even u got DX 9.0C there rnt some D3D files in it.they r added as separate cabinets to the DX setup. In the pirated version of NFS carbon, there is a gr8 DX with many of that files..Try that,It will fix i think.....
