Maybe since you CPU is a 920 instead of a 820, the fan spins slower. I couldn't tolerate the noise of a 820 based system

Not those fans with molex connectors. There are fans which has both the molex connector and the three pin motherboard power connector. You have to use those fans to read the RPM. But they usually spi at 2000-2500 RPM at the default 12V (0.1A)

I also paid Rs.5,250 for mine, but this was more than 2 years ago. Mine doesn't have those fancy stuff, but does a very good job with the power. The only thing I miss in it is the 24-pin ATX connector (but most motherboards are still backwards compatible with 20-pin one)

Noise is a big problem! Maybe not to you. But I and some people here leave the PC on throughout the night. It disturbs us to have sweet dreams. Besides, if your CPU is stable, then don't worry much about the cooling. You are not gonna use the same CPU for more than 10 years no?

Maybe, fan controllers would be better. Turning them down is better than turning them off. Besides, you might hit a sweet spot where it doesn't let the system get much hot, and not irritating the ears at the same time.

You can also use two way switches to make the fans work at either 12V (default) or 7V. You can give the yellow wire from the molex connector permanently to the positive terminal and either the red wire (5V) or a black wire (ground) using a two way switch to the negative terminal to make them work at 7V and 12V respestively. You can use the 12V supply when doing heavy tasks and 7V supply when not doing much work.
This way, you are not wasting power either. If you use a resister, then even when you turn down the RPM, it will still dissipate the same amount of power as at max RPM. I know, it's a small power, but we should try to cut power as much as we can, if we can. Think of how much electricity we will be saving when we add them all up from everyones's PCs.

You don't have to cut them. You can carefully get them out of the molex connector using a hard pin (you have to bend the two small notches that's prevtning them from loosening), and interchange the 0V and 5V (red) and you'll get 7V (12V - 5V).

There are no negative voltages coming out of any connector  They only go into the motherboard through that big ATX power cable. The normal molex connector has 12V, 0V, 0V, 5V. Besides, +12V and -5V will give you 17V!!! :P

More fan's is not always good. It can sometimes make things hotter!!! You might not believe it, but it can happen. You shouldn't let the air pressure build inside the case. It has to flow smoothly. The best configuration is, bringing the air into the case from the inlets in the lower front, and throw it out from outlets in the upper back (near the CPU). ATX standard is designed like that. AT motherboards had the CPU in the front, lower section, and this wasn't efficient when the CPUs become hotter and hotter. So they rearranged the ATX component placement.
It's even better if you have a duct in front of the CPU to bring the cool air in with the vacuum effect of the CPU fan, and a power supply unit which will take in the hot air around the CPU into itself and throwing outside from the back (i.e. two fans).

Which make and brand? I yesterday spotted in an article than Maxtor DiamondMax 10 dissipates very low power compared to all the other HDDs from other manufacturers. It was like 10W vs. 19W. Mine is a Maxtor DiamondMax 10 320GB, and I have to say, it's cooler than my 160GB Samsung! Samsung and Seagate generally make the coolest and quietest drives.

fortunately i got the paper b4 print and corrected it to Intel and 1066Mhz.Then the Q was removed coz teachers dont knw about that..

This is the actual size of the circuit
http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/autofanl.gif
"This circuit was designed to automatically activate a set of three or four small DC fans to cool a large cool-rib for a 10 Amp powersupply. Can be used in a variety of other applications as well."
Couple Notes:
Th1, the 50K thermistor, is a standard type. Mine was a bar or rectangular looking thingy. Available from Tandy/Radio-Shack. Almost any type will do. I experimented with different models from 22K to 100K and all worked fine after replacing the trimmer pot.
The one used in the above circuit diagram was a 50K model made by Fenwal (#197-503LAG-A01). This 50K was measured at exactly 25 °C and with 10% tolerance. The resistance increases as the surrounding temperature decreases. Tolerance for my application (cooling a large powersupply coolrib) is 10%. Another name for this thing is 'NTC'. NTC stands for "Negative Temperature Coefficient" which means when the surrounding temperature decreases the resistance of this thermistor will increase. You may have to shop around to get the cheapest price. Some thermistors can be had for as little as $4.00 but as much as $55.00 Canadian currency for the glass encapsulated type (the best).
I replaced my thermistor for a 60K hermetically sealed glass type since the environment for my application may contain corrosive particles which may affect performance on a future date.
P1 is a regular Bourns trimmer potentiometer and adjusts a wide range of temperatures for this circuit. I used the 10-turn type for a bit finer adjustment but the regular type may work for your application.
R1 is a 'security' resistor just in case the trimmer pot P1 is adjusted all the way to '0' ohms. At which time the thermistor would get the full 12 volt and it will get so hot that it puts blisters on your fingers... :-)
R3 feeds a bit of hysteresis back into the op-amp to eliminate relay 'chatter' when the temperature of the thermistor reaches its threshold point. Depending on your application and the type you use for Q1 and Re1, start with 330K or so and adjust its value downwards until your satisfied. The value of 150K shown in the diagram worked for me. Decreasing the value of R2 means more hysteresis, just don't use more then necessary. Or temporarily use a trimmer pot and read off the value. 120K worked for me.
Transistor Q1 can be a 2N2222(A), 2N3904, NTE123A, ECG123A, etc. Not critical at all. It acts only as a switch for the relay so almost any type will work, as long as it can provide the current needed to activate the relay's coil.
D1, the 1N4148, acts as a spark arrestor when the contacts of the relay open and eliminates false triggering. For my application the 1N4148 was good enough since the tiny relay I used was only 1 amp. However, you can use a large variety of diodes here, my next choice would be a regular purpose 1N4001 or something and should be used if your relay type can handle more then 1 amp.
If you like to make your own pcb, try the one below. The pcb is fitted with holes for the relay but may not fit your particular relay. It was designed for a Aromat HB1-DC12V type. The variety and model of relays is just to great. How to mount it then? Well, I left ample space on the pcb to mount your relay. You can even mount it up-side-down and connect the wires individually. Use Silicon glue, cyanoacrylate ester (crazy glue), or double-sided tape to hold the relay in place. Works well. Note that the pcb and layout is not according to the circuit diagram in regards to the hookup of the fans. The PCB measures approximately 1.5 x 3 inches (4.8 x 7.6mm)
If you print the pcb to an inkjet printer it is probably not to scale. Try to fit a 8-pin ic socket on the printed copy to make sure it fits before making the pcb...

I think there are both unipolar and bipolar thermisters. Haven't used them in any circuit, so I have no idea at the moment. But looking at the circuit diagram, it looks as if they are unipolar ones as the cheaper ones are resisters which chance their resistive properties according to temperature.
Dunno anything about how those motherboard heatsensors work.
BTW, that's ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) socket, not ZIP (if it wasn't a typographical error).
