About RMV in Sri Lanka

hey guys

i think you know about RMV ... the place to Register and transfer vehicles..

its in Narahenpita.. i went today for some transfering thing..

and i just wanted to share this with our fellow members

i wanted to transfer so i fill those forms correctly and went there about 8.20. but first the door was closed coz the Security said it will open about 8.30. but some of ppl went inside.. ( the one who knows the employee in RMV ) anyway. i went inside and when im going Security told me to off the phone. so i just look at them. and there was about 3 or 4 guys calling and chatting in the phones. then are they listening to that Security.. he he he...

so i went inside and went to the Reception's. etakota she said Transfering section is near the Police hall. so i went there. but the head of that department said its not there its the first hall. not this one ....

so i was the first one in the cue. and then i was waiting for the person who going to take the form.. in another 10 mins he came and he did a pretty good job quickly and then the deputy of the head had to sign. so on that time he was reading the news paper.. so i had to wait till he finished.. any way in another couple of mins like 5 he finished it and signed my form. then another lady came and she was laughing and anyway she also took sometime and slowly laughing with the other ppl and finished it.. so anyway.. finally i waited about 2 hours for finish some small thing


what i want to say is.. do you guys think this Government Office is Efficient.. or any more comments

People in private sector has to work not only hard, but also longer. Government working hours are 9am to 4.45pm right? In private sector, they have to start work a most 8am and finish at least at 5pm.

and even macho.. they have overtime.. so ppl try to work on that time as well. so that they can earn.. but the thing is when the management is good.. no one can play fool..

Government offices sucks time..When they r half or share privatized they have some efficiency,Sothat ppl will hav to work hard.Coz of that they protest against it..

I was totally surprised by the efficient service. They even have parking. No bribes or touts anymore. I went Werahera, and got a Sri Lankan license the same day just by showing my US driving license. Only delay was I had get the form filled by a medical officer (I did not know this). So I had to go Colombo and get it filled by friend and go back. It is all computerized. They take your digital photo and fingerprint you on the spot just like in the US. I spoke to the deputy commissioner he was very courteous and professional.

The service is pretty good when compared to old days :) lots of things have changed bt sill have sme traditional issues (:P) as well

You are lucky Lich. At least you could be able to complete your work within 2 hours. I had very bad experience with RMV recently.

Lich there are registered brokers in RMV, its near the canteen, next time if u going there let me know, ill gve a contact number of a lady and shell do the job for u, shell charge very decent broker charges,

If u think RMV is that bad u should have gone to the place where u go to get driving license, there is another department inside that check the weight of brand new vehicles, check engine number etc, if u go there in 8 Am u will go home in 8PM, its the most hated place ever

most of the government offices are like that. un hitagena inne un deviyo tikak kiyala. customerslawa pagannamai hadanne. mamath vahana license eka ganna gihin honda kattak kewa. oka private tanaka kara nam 10 min walin wede lassanata karala denawa. me kalakanninnwa wedi tiyala danna tiyenne.
