Ministry of Defense states that it has decided to register all citizens of Sri Lanka considering their security.
The Defense Ministry says this decision was taken regarding the security situation of the country. Accordingly, all citizens are compulsory to register in the Ministry.
The Defense Ministry says that facilities for online registration are available through www.citizens.lk (http://www.elakiri.com/forum/www.citizens.lk) website. There is a form to be filled and submitted.

This is the same registry that the police conducted some time back. Only difference, you now can do it online without having to go to the police station.
If you had already registered with the police, then when you try to register online, it informs that you're already registered (it checks the NIC no).
This site has bugs though. It lists everyone's Gender as 'Male' even when the person is Female and select Female.
