I love is music.. specially piriniwan mangalya! & dadubasnamanya soundtrack awesome. true I haven't studied abot sri lanka music in detail. but have gone throug some legends like clarence-His melodies are meomrable but music is not GREAT.. but i love his songs. I tried listen to Amaradeva's song some beautiful. but most of the time music is not beautiful..but there is reson& meaning for the music like kasun's music. I like amrasiri peries very much specially ladune... brilliant, awesome..Ran bada seniwarthne's lyrics....so......i'don't know what to say ..ya .. supereb. The future I see is filled with imitating musicians that may come in various names. I am not seeing a future for classic singers like Kasun Kalhara and Jagath Wickramasinghe in such a world polluted with western "junk music" Its very sad indeed. And see who are the "porawal" in music today. BnS, Iraj, Centigradz . . . .etc... etc .... etc... Kasun is better than all these fellows in light years. But people talk very less about him. But "Heenayaki mata aadare", "Mal mitak thiyanna" songs , is popular in whole country (probably because of conventional touch in them) and the whole country knows who is Kasun Kalhara. I work in out station and I can hear his songs being put on the three-wheelers in Agalawatta and Bulatsinhala area. SO he is quite popular.

Well they are not that quality because they are old. and the frequency distribution is from 120Hz-8kHz range. So don't expect Hi-Fi sound quality off these tracks. But these represent the original work of the atrists which bare a historical importance

1st you have to know who owns the songs. It's the lyricist and composer who owns the song. The songs that WD Ariyasinghe sang were owned by Master Khemadasa, which was morally wrong because he earned money out of that.

WD Amaradeva is the composer of Sandun Gase song and he owns it. And he never sang it for commercial purposes. And this song is on a cassete which is out for ornamental purposes.

What I explained is the legislative rights of a song. Whether it is right or wrong is a seperate debate. That is the situation that exists on this 65536 sqkm called "Sri Lanka"

The most important thing in asong is music, not the vocalist. Why do we like Hindi songs? The tune is the one that catches the ear first (don't argue saying voice is also the first thing to hear, but the notes that are sung by the vocalist is also music) I personally think the composer is the top man in a song

All reactions have a counter reaction. I came across this song when Master Amaradeva sang it in "Kala Ulela" of RCC. I have heard the original song later. Now lke you I am also biased thinking what I first heard was better!!;) ;) ;)

Every person knows Mervyn Perera when they sing "Me nagaraya maa oba muna gasunu nagarayayi". One of legendary Sinhalese songs. It still talks to the emotions of thousands even after 25 years!;)

Whether you like Amaradeva's voice or not is not a big issue. But his place in Sinhala song culture as a vocalist, violinist, composer, lyricist and a reviewer is unmatchable.
