:( I got a new ADSL connection to my house at Malabe, from SLT couple of days Back I am using a Usrobotics 4 port wireless ADSL 2+ router. Still I couldn't configure it n now I am unable to connect internet through dialup modem even. any body can advice me how to configure my router to get through to new ADSL 2+ connection frm SLT?

These are the settings to get ADSL working:
Protocol -RFC 2364 PPPoverEthernet
VPI value - 8
VCI value - 35
Modulation - Auto-sense
Encapsulation - LLCSNAP
Authentication - PAP

You have to log into the router. If you haven't done that already, check the manual of the router; they should have given the IP address of the router. Enter it in your browser and log into it. Then find these options ands and make the necessary changes. Put your username and password too ;)

512kbps connection's monthly rental is Rs.2,250/= +VAT = Rs.2,287.50. 2Mbps' charges are three times the 512k's

Also give the user name and password correctly.. username in all simple...
Ex:- [email protected]
Password should be given exactly the way its mentioned.

And also make sure you have an dynamic ip assigned..

Here's how you do it..

Go to Control Panel-> Network Connnections -> Local Area Connection -> right Click properties

didnt u get a manual.if u follow it correctly u should get connected it.
follow ur manual.and make sure that ur phone line has given da ADSL connection.
u said that u having a router so its should be easy.no need to install it.connect it via ur netwrk card.and ur pc will get aa ip via DHCP that running on the router.and then find the routes ip from the manual.and log on to it by typing the ip addresss on internet explorer.and then enter the parameters that anusha told u.

Also, if you told them that you were buying a router when you applied for the connection, they would send you mails notifying any changes if they do any changes :)

That's quite doubtful... cuz, 512 / 1MB / 2MB these are all theoretical rates, actual rate will obviously be lesser!!

Well, if you use torrents to download files, you can expect nothing less than 400kbps on 512kbps conenction. Remember, you can only expect a 80% efficiency in ADSL, and anything higher should be taken for granted.

I have USRobotics Maxg 9108 wireless router there is no protocol selection called RFC 2364 PPPoverEthernet insterd it has RFC 2516 PPPoverEthernet. That may be the problem of not getting connected!! :confused:

Yes. it always deliver 512Kbps. No losses. There is a new package for Rs.1000 rental too. But it limits download 1GB per month. U hv 2 pay Rs.250 for extra 250mb. Visit www.sltnet.lk for further details.
