Stay away from Creative, Asus, Samsung etc. because they don't make any DVD Writers. Their writers are rebadged drives from companied in the previous list, except the Sony. Sony = Benq

It worked for about 7-8 months after the crossflash. Then it died. I don't think it's related to the cross-flash. Maybe the hardware isn't good. I told you there was some faulty batches ne.

No. I meant, there is no such model as 820B. They have only 820A. The latest model is 830A from Sony.

Samsungs are made with Toshiba.I trust Toshiba .Samsung drives were somewhat bad on the recent years.Coz they r cheap now ppl think they r more bad.They went well on me however earlier on 2005..And the price gap between sony and samsung will be about 250 rs with samsung being the cheaper..

Not sure if they are available. But if the discs are of very good quality, I think they can work at 20x. There is a software called QSuite which comes with Benq drives. Using it, you can over-speed the discs. Not sure about the Liteons.

Anyway, it is a slow reader. Only 12X for DVD+/-R. And do you really want DVD-RAM? You can make A DVDRW a DVD-RAM by using Nero's In-CD or something similar ne :rolleyes:

That model was the best 3S drive model from Lite-on. But it's identical in hardware to 1673S. However that's pretty old. Almost two years.

And HP don't make drives too. They are either from Benq, LG or some other manufacturer

They can't be more expensive that others. There is one place that seels LG products only, at Unity Plaza. I can't remember the shop, but it's there just as you climb the stairs from 1st floor of Unity (1st floor means the floor where Barclays is)

That's what I thought too. Imation don't make their DVDs. There discs are made by a company called CMC. They are considered "CRAP"!!! The final burn quality isn't satisfactory. If you wanna keep your data intact for a long time, stay away from them.

At Pettah, you can get them for about Rs.40 if you buy 10 or more. :D
You can buy a single disc at about Rs.45, or even less - if you could find a good deal. I don't know much shops there :(
