Sri Lanka Army troops engaged in an anti terrorists operation in Mavil Aru are reportedly advancing amidst of heavy enemy fire towards their mission- restoring the water supply for 15000 families in the Eastern Province.
According to the Media Center for National Security, five army soldiers have sacrificed their lives and six more have been injured in the battle. The five solders made their ultimate sacrifice whilst valiantly charging head the enemy defence at 1.00 p.m today (Monday the 31st of July).
The continuous march of the ground troops towards Mavil Aru Anicut have been effectively supported by the air strikes by Sri Lanka Air Force and the supportive operations conducted by the Special Task force. According to the latest reports more than 35 terrorists have been killed by the Army retaliation.
Reliable sources say that the Army troops are now in the vicinity of the Anicut and the heavy fighting are still going on.:(
