Matrox Extio F1220 Remote Graphics Unit allows users to separate monitor and system up to 820-feet

Matrox today announced its latest remote graphics device – the Extio F1220 Remote Graphics Unit. Using fiber optic cabling the Extio F1220 can drive up to four monitors simultaneously while the physical computer system sits up to 820-feet away. This allows users to have a near silent computing environment by relocating the number one noise source to another room or closet – ideal for studio uses.

Two analog and two DVI outputs drive up to four monitors. The four outputs support resolutions up to 1920x1200 per display. In addition to the monitor outputs, the Extio F1220 features six USB 2.0, two IEEE 1394a and three audio ports. One of the audio ports can serve as a single analog stereo output or an optical-S/PDIF output.

Expect the Matrox Extio F1220 Remote Graphics Unit to arrive next quarter as a standalone unit. The necessary fiber-optic cable and PCIe or PCI interface cards are sold separately.
