The Inquirer is reporting that the refresh to NVIDIA's G80 GPU (GeForce 8 Series), which is probably code-named G81 if history is an indicator, will be manufactured on TSMC's 65nm process node.

"THE G80 replacement looks like it might be known as G81, and it appears that Nvidia will take the radical step of making it at 65 nanometre. That is what's been rumoured in China and Taiwan and according to sources close to or inside TSMC."

Whether the refresh to G80 is built at 65nm or 80nm, one thing is for certain. NVIDIA wants to shrink to the G80 down ASAP.

Pretty cool. They will consume very low power. And they will also have quite a lot of overclocking headroom too. Hopefully the reference design will have a good Heatsink + Fan.
