It has kinda double data rates than normal ADSL, 24M up stream and 1M down. 2.2Mhz transmission speed. but less distance from DSLAM. Only around 2.4km from exchange.

Now no ADSL2+ from SLT, but may be in future. I think SLT looking more in to their vision carrier.

yeah you can upgrade most routers using firmware to ADSL 2+ but SLT or the provider should have the ADSL2+ facility too. thats the main thing. :yes:
since anusha undergoing training in SLT, he said SLT thinking about ADSL2+ too, but i dont know.. i think they mostly looking in to their Vision Carrier.

ITU G.992.5 is an ITU (International Telecommunication Union (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Telecommunication_Union)) standard, also referred to as ADSL2+ or ADSL2Plus. This extends the capability of basic ADSL (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asymmetric_Digital_Subscriber_Line) by doubling the number of downstream (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downstream_%28computer_science%29) bits. The data rates can be as high as 24 Mbit/s (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbit/s) downstream and 1 Mbit/s upstream depending on the distance from the DSLAM (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_subscriber_line_access_multiplexer) to the customer's home.
ADSL2+ is a hot topic because it is capable of doubling the transmission speed of typical ADSL connections from 1.1 MHz to 2.2 MHz. Well it really depends on for what you using the connection.
Distance from exchange also a major factor when it comes to DSL performance.

Anyway try TweakMASTER Pro it can really improve but lot of work should be done from your side too. Lot of testing to optimize the settings too.

No ADSL2+ for a long time. Even the telephones as close as 30m from the switch (or DSLAM) can only have a bandwidth of 11Mbps with the current telephone lines. :(

It's because the resources are shared among all the ADSL users. No one is given a guaranteed 512k or 2M speed. That's simply the max speed. Using P2P downloading methods, you can fully exploit the connection speed.

Broswing is generally not as fast as you would expect from a 8 times faster connection than dialup. However, if you use torrents or when you download from fast http/ftp servers, you can easily get 400k+ with a 512k connection.

400k is the download speed (i.e. 50kBps) :rolleyes:

If the speeds are low in torrent, that's because you have a low number of seeders, or higher number of leechers, or the seeders are uploading slow or any combination of them.

If the speeds are slow when downloading some files from a http server, then it could be because the server is slow. You can almost get 50kBps if you use Rapidshare ne (even with the limited (free) account) That's because their servers are fast.

I really don't know why the browsing speed is low. It could be that the servers are slow. The browser overhead also adversely affect this.
