Guys I heard that PC-world is selling Acer 17" LCDs for 15500 with 3 months,Japansoft is selling Dell,Mitsubishi,NEC 15" for 10800 and can be paid by 900x12.What will be the pros and cons of this?

We should definitely check the manufactured year and the dead pixels.
Prize is very good as Brand news go at 20000[15"] and 25000[17"]..

Brand new 17" are Rs.20000-22000 (Acer and Philips), but these could be low end models.

I was told by a friend to stay away from Viewsonic. They are expensive and that would make you believe they are good. But they are not. Go with Samsung, Dell or NEC if you can.

well I already have a Viewsonic 17" LCD..........and I have seen a Dell 15" monitor and it sux:( It doesn't have the same viewing angles like Viewsonic..........once u move a bit either to left or to right u can't see anything:( :(

He said two of his friends bought new Viewsonic monitors and that both of them had to replace them at least once.

Low end models from each company suck! You need to get a latest model if you can because LCD is still maturing unlike CRT which has exhausted in terms of maturity.

I don't think it's a big problem. One of my friends bought a 19' Samsung LCD when his father came from Oman. AFAIK, he didn't have trouble with the custom authorities.

They are junk! No exquisite designs, they are not good performers, they lack a lot of features which available on other brands. They are for the poor people, who don't give a damn about the performance or features they are missing.

But widescreens are only good for movies. The normal 4:3 monitors are suitable for every other task IMO.

You can buy normal models (i.e. not highend) for around Rs.20,000-22,000. I don't know any model numbers or anything. I haven't looked into them yet.

I will never go for an LCD monitor other than 1280x1024 native resolution, unless I get a chance to buy a highend video card. This is regarding games only.
