Last month, reports appeared saying the upcoming ATI code-name R600 graphics processor from AMD wouldn't be introduced until March. However, according to VR-Zone, the R600's rumored March introduction will be a paper launch. The site says the card won't actually hit stores (http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=4572) until April, which would be roughly five months after the hard launch of Nvidia's GeForce 8800-series cards in early November 2006. VR-Zone says AMD is also prepping R600 derivatives dubbed R630 for the mid-range market and R610 for the low-end, and that those GPUs will be launched in April, with availability in May.

Yeah men. This is sooo disturbing. That means, there won't be a price war, and the current prices will not fall by a lot. I mean, nVidia don't have to lower them because they have the fastest cards.
I wonder what the mid-range products from ATI (AMD) will be like. Hopefully they'll beat the 8600Ultra or even come close to the 8800GTS (at least the 320MB version).

Honestly, until DX10 games arrive, who gives a flying dung? If R600 lauches a little later just so it's a better product, but still beats DX10 games to market, then good for them for not releasing high-dollar buggy crap with shoddy drivers *cough cough Nvidia* onto the consumer. Sure, it sucks that the thing is already massively delayed but it's better to release a solid offering late than a piece of crap early or even on time....
The only losers are the people who "need" a high-end DX10 card immediately but don't want to suffer Nvidia's currently driver inadequacy.....
Once it does arrive if it still has bugs and driver issues well then that'll be a shame.....
