Here This is mine...
Hard Disk Buffer size - 8MB (Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9)
DVD RW Buffer size - 2MB (SONY DVD RW DRU-820A)
DVD ROM Buffer size - 512KB (SONY DVD-ROM DDU1622)
You can know about buffer sizes that your drives have using a software like "Everest"...

If u like to use freeware use HD Tune
HD Tune 2.53 is a hard disk utility which has the following functions:

8MB & 2MB respectively.There was once ASUS writers equipped with 8MB buffer.But didnt had much.

80GB should be about Rs.5500 and 120GB will be about Rs.6000-6500.

Of course it's reliable.
I have used it for about 21 months. Only 3 months' warranty left though :(
It's IDE btw.
