Feb 08 (CP) Colombo- Sri Lanka's voter registry has been computerized with funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

Guys! any comments on this? Any ideas how to improve from here?

Finally. I think its a step in da right direction.... But i dont like fact that we took USAID

Yes it's definitely a step in the right direction! I'm not sure about what kind of deals made by the government when getting USAID involved in this, but I think as far as its purely "knowledge based" then it should be OK!
Because we need the technologies and experience of countries that already implemented this system.
I think now government should look at Digitalizing our Identity Cards with an embedded chip that contains all our information (Birth Records, Driving License even Health Records)
We have good chance of being the first South Asian country to implement this system up to that stage! I sincerely hope that government did not just computerized the names just for the sake of it! and they have some kind of long term plans that benefit Sri Lankans!!
