I think this works machan coz it alter the WGA, but not sure how long coz MS will release next WGA version very soon.
So install IE Beta 3 and Windows Defender Beta 2 as soon as you can. Do your Windows Updates too.

Hoo hoo. I didn't have to apply the patch to make mine genuine. All you need it a serial key which is not blacklisted. Don't ask for it though, because if you use it, it will eventually become blacklisted too.

But, I'm now using Windows 2003 Server VLK Edition (or the Corporate Edition as most of you call it), and Microsoft never tries to validate it. There is no Windows Genuine Advantage thing for it. I can apply any of the updates without a problem.

Yes.

You will not be able to install any of the future updates (such as IE7, WMP11 etc.) because now Microsoft looks if your Windows copy is genuine before letting you download AND install them (so even if you are able to download from a hacker's site, you might not be able to install it).

You can update Windows (let's say - a service pack, if you don't usually run Windows update) without having to worry about whether you will be able to log into Windows the next time you boot. Because if Microsoft detects you are running a pirated copy, it will not let you log into Windows the next time, unless you enter a valid CD-Key.

Hey I dont think I have a genuine XP OS........just a sp2 cd I bought.....but I can install WMP 11 without any prob.:yes: :yes: :D
But I have some problems with directX.......I cant install 9c.......although the installation process ends succesfully it doesnt update 4m 9b to 9c. So I cant play games like NFS Carbon, Commandos srtike force.....it says some dlls r missing:( :(

You need the latest DirectX 9.0c update pack. It's 9.0c of course, but they have added more files every one or two months. The latest DirectX release is DirectX 9.0c October release. I think you'll have to install it. if everything fails, maybe it's time to reinstall Windows ;)

I reinstalled windows a week ago..........during installation it doesn't even ask 4 a cd key. How can I get latest directx release?:D
