Construction on the port began in the late 1970s and with 67 berths it is the busiest port in the Middle East.
The Jebel Ali Freezone is also home to hundreds of businesses, while the massive Jebel Ali power station provides electricity to Dubai.
However, it is not just an industrial zone - as well as the palm Jebel Ali which is under construction, the area also also boasts its own marina and a world class hotel.
