I'm on a 3 year old,
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 2600+ Thoroubred, 195*11=2145MHz, stock cooling

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GV-R96P128DE, 200MHz/200MHz at idle, 400MHz/470MHz at 3D
RAM: Kingston 512MB DDR400 (x2) + Hynix 256MB DDR333 @2.5-3-3-8 390MHz and 2.6V
Hard Drive(s): Samsung SP1604N 160GB (x2)
Optical Drive(s): Benq DW1640 DVD Burner
Monitor: Prolink PRO775CA, 17-inch, flat at 1280x960x32x75Hz

There wouldn't be a dual-core HT supported CPU from Intel again. None of the Core2Duo based CPUs have it. But they are hell fast!!!
And AMD doesn't have any HT supported CPUs.
I'm saving money for a major upgrade!

i didnt meant HT as hyper threadin . its Hyper Transport......

well i always go 4 AMD my choice...

Why would someone need to emphasise on HTT in AMD?
I don't have a brand loyalty. I would buy what is best at the time when I buy. When I bought this PC, it was a choice between 2.53GHz P4 and 2600+ AthlonXP. 2600+ was good in most ways. But I wonder if I would have been able to overclock the 2.53GHz PC if I had gone with it.
You know, the latest Intel CPUs are awesome. The lowest end 1.86GHz CPU (US$183) outperforms 2.8GHz AFX60 (US$850 or so) in some benchmarks. And there are people who have overclocked that 1.86GHz CPU to over 3GHz without much trouble. That's totally awesome.
Quad core CPUs are coming this year, so I'm looking forward for one as my next PC's heart.

Intelz HT(Hyper Threading) and AMDz Hyper Transport are totally different things.
They both have their advantages and disadvantages.

at the moment Intels Core2Duo outperforms AMD, as i know they are the fastest gaming processors now even beating FX. But AMD will come up with something.. Lets see..
I think Intel left HT bcoz when you have real multicore why you need virtual processors anymore.

Yeah it is really a 500W one
Cost me Rs.5,250 (bought it seperate with the Case)
It has 6 HDD molex connectors (HDD power connectors) on two rails, a SATA power connector, 2 FDD connectors, two FANs (one taking hot air surrounding the CPU into the PSU and one taking that out). It's very silent, and the voltages are pretty stable (+12V and +5V are close to the correct values)

I hav to agree wid u guys on Core2 Duo aka Conroe beatin AMD's cpus..feels very wrong tho. AMD has ruled the gamin world for quite some time now and Intel overtakes jus like that..lol..64 X2s used to outperform Intel in every possible way nahh..encodin, Office, renderin etc..dang wat a shame:lol:

yeah, but AMD now had ATI in their pocket. It will be just a matter of time when we see Intel being embarrased in games by AMD, with CPU+GPU in one chip (BUS latencies will be eliminated, hence the need for a PCI-E like controller).

Anyway in my opinion Nvidia rules over ATI now, there was a time on AthlonXP stage where ATI ruled the GPU world.
Anyway lets see what AMD and ATI doing..

AM2 didn't show much performance improvement over the 3 year old S939. The power consumption is lower though.
ATI rules with X1900XT cards. They will improve it with the X1950XTX, with 2GHz DDR4!!! Just that they have been a little late on product launch and power consumption of their cards is a bit higher than nVidia.

But when you take overall, i mean on economy medium and highend cards, Nvidia still rules. I think ATI coming back again, last year ATI was nowhere near Nvidia, Geforce 6 series was major success. ATI took ages to move with PCI Express. They never had a PCI express card for a long time when Nvidia has tons.

Anyway hope ATI will be back again like their golden days with AthlonXPz and Barton cores.

ATI moved to PCI-E within 3 months iirc, with the X800 cards. But the thing is, at that time, there wasn't a hude need for AGP. Even today, PCI-E is only needed for very high-end cards and/or multiGPU systems.
AthlonXP wasn't a golden age. A64 age was!

Well I can’t agree with you machan, today AGP almost obsolete now, only socket 754 boards have AGP all other boards on PCI, other thing now AGP cards costs more than PCI-E it’s like SD RAM now. I got a Geforce 6600 and they are kinda last few models on AGP 8X.

It is true that AGP doesn't support multi-GPU platforms, neither does have the bandwidth to drive a multi-GPU platform. But for single, mid-range cards, there isn't much of a difference between AGP and PCI-E.

Just found out that GeForce 7800 GS has an AGP version, and it is the fastest AGP card available in the market. Maybe anything higher is limited by the lower bandwidth of AGP.
