Not a lot of people have seen Asoka Handagama's movie Aksharaya (A Letter of Fire) and if the Minister of Culture has his way then not many more people are going to see the movie.

If you Google Aksharaya you can fine out enough about the debate surrounding the movie. Personally I think the movie should be screened and the Minister for Culture should go screw himself. We have enough people trying to do moral policing in this country, the last thing we need is for some illiterate Minister who's incapable of stringing two words together trying to decide what we should abnd shouldn't see.

i agree, ministers are too dumb to decide what we should watch and what we should not. thee is a torrent for this in lankatorrents... i downloaded it but could not watch it yet... i wonder whether the torrent is still alive, if so you may be able to get it...

I watched this film.. this reveals sexual identity formation of a family. This is specific one. but we can't generalize it or apply for every family. It has targeted foreign viewers who have clear idea about those theoretical and practical aspects. This is not relevant for Sri Lankans. But it is a gud movie. I think it need not that nude seen to include here. coz her mentality has already revealed.

Watch it but don't understand it easy. It has something but not everything...

yes. but we can't produce anything for our culture. there are limitations. Artist should understand it first. I don't think that our culture is the best. but it has some values.

Producer has jst catered for target audience, i guess, but due to the hype ppl creating, its gettin popular, atleast online :D

Asoka Handagama is an absolute prick who want's to degrade our culture to get him awards from the west. Aksharaya is bit better, but films like "Me mage Sndayi" which grossly insults the armed forces should be banned and the prick should be stoned (he would have been if he was in India, where better patriots live). The over generalizing aspect of Handagama's films has made him a malignant tumor in our societs that have to be extracted to save the society. This pervert has supported LTTE in public. why shuould we support him? my enemy's friend is my enemy after all.
