Put the CD on the drive and install. I think they give manual with genuine XP :lol:
After that go to Windows Media site and Install WMP11 simple stuff.. :D

Not really
Anyone who buys a Laptop will have to pay for genuine Windows. Even if the user is not aware of it, Rs.10000 is being charged for that.
Unless you interpret this as, "a person who's buying a laptop should be really rich", then a person who buys genuine Windows is not necessarily be a very rich guy.

I know you can buy Laptops without OSes installed. But they are the budget laptops, from not-so-reputable companies. If I were to buy a Laptop, I wouldn't look at something other than one made by a big company (except for Dell, as two of their Laptops caught fire when they were running :D) even if I have to pay that extra $100.

You can buy IBM, HP, DELL etc.. without OS! now tell me they are not reputable companies :D

HP is just HP - ok, they are fine :)
Dell's laptops are designed to go into flames when they are working :D:D:D

HP is just HP ,huh I bought a even now they wont do standalone products,cz mine is a HP COMPAQ laptop and my other one is a HP too,bt I dnt agree that HP doing standalone notebooks

haha now you are saying almost top laptop brands from earth bad, we'll try AlienWare:lol: coz if not you can't find a better brand here.:lol:

Dell has some issues and some ppl reporting things, but i dont think Dell that bad they are one of the best PC makers and server makers. Fujitsu also good.
Anyway almost all those laptop makers have non OS versions or atleast linux laptops so you can get one without paying for OS!

I'm not! It's video playback quality sucks.

And the normal GUI doesn't go with XP's visual styles. They should have a different version for XP (not feature wise) and another one for Vista. Else, MS should make a cool theme for XP, that is closer to Vista's (just a basic version resembling Vista's theme, without those glass effects).

Hey does any one head about windows XP SP2 STUDENT Release.

This version of Windows XP Pro will not ask you to activate. It is a copy used in many colleges to teach students the installtion process of Windows XP. It is, however, a full version of XP, and it has all the extras Windows XP is known to have. This release will also allow you to log on to M’zoft.com and use Windows Update with no problem. The CD is expected to be copied multiple times.

I found it from some wares site. Its working perfectly. So if u install this XP version u dont want to wory about WGAs (Windows Genuine Advantage ). U can install mediaplayer 11 original, IE7 newest or anything.
