From being greeted by a friend who literally shouted “Look at what Christmas has done to your waist” (though he did have a point, since all the Christmas cake and the mince pies back home had taken their toll on me) to being told that I would be the perfect side-screen at a cricket match, my weight has become quite a topic (if you could call it that) among pals.
Aren’t we living in a politically correct world, where telling people they are fat is a crime. (This a violation of human rights, ok, I’m starting an “over weight’s against the anorexic-looking-people” lobby group)

Being on the heavier side all my life, I have learnt (and still learning) to take the jibes about my “weight issues” in my stride. Growing up in a country where small or medium was the average size, coming to Malaysia where the average size is extra-small; I was certainly at a disadvantage. Also being taller than an average girl did not help my cause. Now I really know how Gulliver felt in the land of little men.

Shoot me if I am wrong, but we are living in times where, suffering from an eating disorder is almost a fashion statement (look at Nicole Ritchie or Victoria Beckham), being overweight (Or plump – the politically correct way of saying it) is almost a social stigma. Hard to imagine there was an era when being fat was considered a sign of good health, wealth and happiness.

To all of you using your “weight issues” to blame all your failures on, get a life please. It only shows that you are a loser who can’t come to terms with who you really are. If you are bigger than the rest, who cares? It’s your life, live it the way you want.

In a world where Victoria’s Secret models are considered overweight for couture modeling (Giselle Bundchen vs. Kate Moss), I am no where near the accepted size for girls. And don’t think I will ever get there.
So I’d rather have my weekly quota of Dunkin Donuts, than ever look anorexic-looking-Kate-Moss thin.
Hence I can proudly say, I’d rather be fat than thin. Thank you.

As long as one feels comfortable about his/her weight, I don't think it should be other pplz business. Then again speaking the reality ppl do have lotta comments to make whn someone is gaining weight (specially in here), so i personally believe as long as u feel healthy and better abt the way you fit in a dress .... politely ignore wht other ppl hv to say. At the end all it matters is if you r happy or not. :)

When Arjuna Ranathunga won the World Cup for us nobody rejected it cuz he was FAT!! It is definitely not the looks that does matters, what does matter is what you are capable of....

But.... as always there two sides for every story, while you may be proud of who you are there are people out there... desperate to change, get back in to shape.. some have succeeded by hard work and determination, they may say "I wanted to change.. and unlike people who wanna just accept things for granted I was determined to change my faith.." so while you are proud of your "self belief", some other proud of their "determination"...

It all depends on what you want.... If you love the way you live your life and never wanna change you can label it as "I'm happy with what I am" and if you wanted something so badly and you archived it through hard work and planning you can label it as "I'm proud of my determination"

And like everything in life, whether you are FAT or THIN wont even give a clue of who you are! so I guess its time to stop justifying about how you feel about your looks and move on with Life, because at some point if you realize you wanna change you can always shift gears to that "Determination Mode"!!!
