dual core posseser ekak 2.66 nam,eke eka core ekakin 2.66 gaane core 2n 5.32k wadada!!
nathnam ekakin 1.33 gane 2n maa 2.66da!!
Anusha.............
2.66GHz (Pentium-D 805) = 2.66GHz in each core. But it's not really 5.33GHz. Only multithreaded applications will use both cores (and will perform like a 5.33GHz). However, if you use single threaded applications, the 2nd core will be free for all your other needs (watch movies, play music, programs and even games). You can change the processor affinity for each process in task manager.....

They are like dual processors. In a multi processor system, you can run different processes in different processor ne? For example, you can use one processor to play a video, while the other processor does a 3D Rendering in 3DMax.
Same applied to dual core CPUs. Here, each core acts like a processor in a dual processor system.

Oh just saw the PM. You wanna know about multithreading?
You can cut down a program into several threads. For example, say Microsoft Word. You want to be able to open the menus while you are searching for something in the word document, right? If those two things were not separated and allowed to run in parallel, you won't be able to do both at the same time. When you search for the word, the whole winword.exe will stop responding to anything else, until the search is over. You don't want this to happen. These small , unrelated "internal processes" are called threads.

2 cores in both PentiumD and Core2Duo
2 Core with HT in Pentium Extreme (dual core version)
4 Cores in Core2Quad

Higher IPC
Low latency cache
High FSB
Improved branch predictor
Improved SSE engine with more instructions
Macro and Mrco-op fusion
Improved prefetching
.....
Higher IPC = more instructions can be executed per clock. I think it's twice as P-D.
Low latency cache = accessing cache is faster, not necessarily the cache is faster (cache runs at the same clock speed)
Higher FSB = 800MHz vs 1066MHz (or 1333MHz - Kentsfield/Conroe Refresh or 1600MHz - upcoming)
Branch Predictor = How successfully the answer to a conditional operation can be predicted
SSE engine = more SSE instructions (for multimedia tasks - more work per clock because of complex instructions) and higher SSE bus width
Micro and Macro fusion = certain operations can be combined together in one cycle. (such as assembly operations ADD, MOV etc.)
Prefetching = bring new instructions to the execution unit while the other instructions are already being processed (removes wait cycles)

1.86GHz Core2 Duo = 3.4GHz PentiumD in general = 4GHz+ PentiumD in games
1.86GHz Core2 Duo = 3.4GHz PentiumD in general = 4GHz+ PentiumD in games
Then Do 2 Processors act Separately?
I mean 1.86GHz works for one 1.86GHz & other Pros for other Work?
(I mean 1.86+1.86=3.32GHz?)
Anusha
03-10-2007, 08:54 PM
1.86GHz in the clock speed. It will give performance of 3.32GHz (but Core 2 performance) in mutithreaded appz only. Same with PentiumD. A 3.4GHz P-D = 6.8GHz P4 in multthreaded appz.

Besides, if this is old, then a Core 2 Quad might still be faster than it.

Because of Premier.
I'm working on v6.5. it has been released on 2001 or '02 as I think.
But that version is most suitable for Hardware in 2007 (QuadCore with 2~4Gig RAM)

# of Threads >= # of Processes (check in Task Manager)
Threads are small process like things inside a main process. Every process has at least one thread.
For example, in a web browser, the page rendering/loading and the menu displays work in different threads. If there were not separated, you won't be able to open a menu, while a page is loading & vise versa.
