With CeBit 2007 in full swing, the place to be for techies is the otherwise rather off-the-beaten-path convention center in Hannover, Germany. These guys probably aren't all that concerned with the locale, anyway. They've got their heads down for a round of Counter-Strike at the World Cyber Games 2007 venue in one of the convention halls.

At the Deutsche Telekom booth, visitors try out 3D technology. Judging by the setup, it would seem to a variation on tunnel vision.

From the head, we move on to the feet. This " virtual mirror for augmented reality" was developed by the Fraunhofer Institute and shoemaker Adidas. The device scans a person's feet and shoes, then shows off different colors and styles without the person having to try on pair after pair.

Not everyone wants their cell phone to fit in a pocket when they're on the go. This one is designed for naptime. Germany company Urban Tool says its PerCushion has an integrated BlueTooth phone.

For those who like their communications gadgets with substantially more flair, there's always the Prada phone.

Face painting is for kids. When you're a grown-up high-tech company with a big advertising budget, apparently you go more for the shoulder blades.

Sanyo shows off what it bills as a waterproof big-screen TV. But if you're getting that much water in your living room, you might want to set aside some of your entertainment funds and call a plumber.

During her grand tour of the CeBit show floor, German Chancellor Angela Merkel stopped by the IBM stand to check out a dollhouse meant to represent an eco-friendly, microchip-equipped house.

Not everyone in Germany wears lederhosen--they're mostly for staunch Bavarian traditionalists--but maybe that will change now that you can get the suspender-friendly pants with a built-in interface for an MP3 player. These britches, from Lodenfry, are on display at the smart textiles stand.

A company called Emporia is showing off cell phones designed for people over the age of 50. At least here in the CeBit stand, they seem to be taking the large-print concept just a bit too far.
