Clean the heat sink if it is covered with dust.......

best thin to do is check ur processor with othr cooler if the temp goes down or nt ... den replace it

Reseat the heat sink and see. Maybe the heatsink is covered with dust, and blocking heat dissipation from the heatsink fins.

What about the ventilation inside the case? Maybe the ambient temperature is too high.

1. Do not use third party cooling fans or thermal paste with original Intel Processors.

2. Do not wipe-off the original thermal paste of the intel heat sink.

3. 68 C - 72 C is ok with intel processor.

4. Do not change original BIOS settings if you're using an original Intel motherboard

1. You should only use Intel HFS if you are NOT overclocking. Intel HSF is the most basic HSF for an Intel CPU.

2. True. But it's not a paste. It's a pad. It's less efficient that a paste.

3. Not true. Every CPU has to be less than 60C at full load. Those fans are designed for a 10C less ambient temperature (20C against 30C) so that will work well only at that ambient temperature. For SL, these are not adequate at all.

4. Why not?

3rd party coolers are good, but check out reviews before you buy any. They may look great, but not works as well as you think.

To be honest, ASUS are too new to the cooling market. I guess you should thoroughly check out the reviews before you go with any ASUS coolers.

Check this out.
Asus Star Ice cooler: http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews/asusicecooler/
Scroll down and you will see a chart (AMD as well as Intel).

But remember, there are much better cooling solutions from other companies. But we can't find them in SL :(

However, 3rd party coolers has to be better than Intel's boxed coolers because otherwise how are they gonna sell them? Intel's coolers are free ne :D

Well, Gigabyte is not known well for their coolers either. Same as Asus.

Companies like Coolermaster, Thermaltake, Thermalright, Zalmaan etc. are the best in the business.

P4 630 has more cache, faster FSB etc. So it is supposed to get hotter.

I'm using the boxed cooler at the moment. I will buy one if I buy a new motherboard (for overclocking ;))

Don't look at this as a Serious Problem... This is how Intel processors act.... I use P4 3.2 HT Prescott (540) Processor with Original CPU Fan... It gets its heat upto 80C with out any Problem.. (But heat reduces the speed)

You are Using Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 630 (3 GHz, 2 MB Cache, LGA775, HT)... Its Thermal Specification is about 70C. But Heat is depending on system stress...

If you looking to reduce processor heat use Good CPU Cooler with good Terminal Grease... Also be careful to make good air circulation inside Casing...

Just turn off the Fan Speed Control. (In bios)

It'll help a lil bit. ;)
