Ports and Aviation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa today emphasised the need to replace the age-old air buses of the national carrier ‘Sri Lankan Airlines’ with new ones as a measure to recover from the present loss incurred by the airline which now stands at Rs.10 billion.

Minister Rajapaksa told Daily Mirror today that they had a meeting a few days ago to discuss ways and means to resuscitate the national carrier from the present unprofitable state. He pointed out that the global economic recession had hit the airline industry of the world, and that Sri Lanka had also felt its effects.

Mihin has Hired Sri Lankan Airline flights and crew for their company, that means Mihin means bascially Sri Lankan Airline, so end of the year as always Mihin never pay the money to Sri lanlan Airlines, thats how Sri Lankan Airlines on loss,

The money which was pumped to Mihin lanka could have been used to modernise the airline..... DO agree that the aged old planes are not supporting the recovery factor... A change is reqd.... hopefully they'll implement the right plan......
