Why are you posting the same thing over and over?

I don't think, especially after what you've said, that anyone would want to buy your current card :D

Forget about selling the current card. Try looking for a new one.

If you wanna play current games with a good level of details, you can't look at anything below Geforce 7600GS from nVidia, or an X1600Pro from ATI.

It's doesn't matter which brand you go for, as long as the brand name is popular. That doesn't mean that all of them will be expensive. Companies such as XFX make excellent video cards, and still cost a lot less that cards from companies like ASUS.

And expect to spend more than Rs.15,000 if you wanna buy at least a 7600GS.

BTW, I will sell mine when Geforce 8600 cards hit the Sri Lankan market. :D

I'm not a fanboy of any company. I get the best I can afford

If ATI will have a better card at the same price, I will definitely go for it.

Currently, I'm not impressed with the X16xx series from ATI, so I'm a bit more biased towards 76xx series. But my current video card is on par with 7600GT, so I don't have to worry about that. However, if I had a choice to go with a 79xx and X19xx card, I will definitely choose ATI.

You had an unpleasant experience with a 9700Pro?
It was far better than any of the FX cards. (well, in OpenGL, the FX cards expecially the 5900Ultra performed better) I had one which died, and my cousin has an FX5900XT and still, mine was far better. Since I burnt my 9700Pro, I had to go for a 9600Pro (sigh :() and it even performed FAR better than the FX5900XT in FEAR.

Mine was also a Gigabyte. GV-R9700Pro
I could only overclock it to 350/330 (from 325/310).
Mine also burnt, but I couldn't see any burn marks. The display got corrupted. Alas, it was after the warranty period had expired.

I spent 35000!!! This was in 2003 August.

Yeah stock cooling. I didn't want to risk doing anything with such an expensive piece of hardware.
Zalman or any other after market cooler would have cooled it more efficiently. But I think it missed having RAM sinks on BOTH sides. Only one side was cooled. And also, their external power connector was giving me problems. Whenever I moved the PC, the connections would loose. Then I get that error message saying "Power connector not plugged" or something like that.

Yeah, I could unlock the other 4 pipes. Too bad this thing doesn't have a power connector. I can't overclock beyond 490MHz on core. It doesn't give any artifacts. The driver resets automatically at 500MHz. I think 75W is not enough at max load at 500MHz and up. I couldn't use X850XT PE clocks because of that.

Since Vista x64 doesn't support ATI Tool because of the signed drivers only restriction, I had to set the overclocked clocks in BIOS. Now it's always overclocked. X850XT is only 520/560 and it easily beats 7600GT in raw performance (wished it has SM3.0 support :(). Mine is very close to X850XT with 486/526.

Intel's onboard 945G is faster than that.

I flashed to X850XT but it was giving me problems - driver resets even at the desktop. I found at techPowerUp forums that using X850XT BIOS won't give any performance advantages over the X800GTO BIOS.

Can't remember the 3dmark scores. I tested them in Vista and when the driver support wasn't that great. And also, 3dmark06 takes SM3.0 tests into consideration so I must have got lower marks than a comparative SM3.0 supported card. However, it was 5xxx and 2xxx in 3dmark05 and 06.

In DirectX, at stock speeds X1950 is faster. Much faster. But 7900GS tends to overclock a lot, and it will then perform better than an overclocked X1950Pro.

But in OpenGL, 7900GS is faster even at stock clock speeds.

There isn't much of a noticeable difference between the two. You should be fine with either one. 7900GS might overclock to 600MHz whereas 1950Pro is pretty much at its max clock speed. It's more of a personal preference. I would go for the ATI because ATI has very less trouble with their drivers in Vista. Performance wise, both are pretty much the same. You wouldn't notice a difference. 512MB will not necessarily speed things up because the differences between X1950XT 256MB and 512MB is marginal. But 512MB will feel nice :D

XFX do only nVidia GeForce ,HIS & Sapphire do only ATI Radeon & they master them.

There r no issues with the XFX nVidia cards.
Many luv the 7900 GS as its economical and can be OCed into a much extent.

HIS radeon X1950XT is a superb card with great great cooling(temp <50 C always!!absolutely quiet)but it has a issue that its fan get damaged coz it tends to rub of the cover. So many had RMAed the card.Performance,OCing and cooling is exceptional.

Sapphire one has a great sounds like a plane turbine when running high.Gr8 performance for money.

ATI drivers hav sucked in Vista and in some others.works fine in XP

I cant afford more than 200 USD so the best one comes under that limit is mine!!
