The American Ambassador’s residence has been charged by the Water Board for the illegal usage of water, informed sources told Ada Derana. The Embassy has paid Rs. 370440 as compensation for the loss after a raid conducted by the Non Revenue Water Unit of the Water Board.
The Residence at Albert Crescent, Colombo had thus illegally used water according to reports. After the raid the Embassy had paid the compensation to the Rajagiriya Water Board on October 14.
Sources claimed that in May this year the American Centre on Galle Road had been guilty of the same offence and been charged Rs. 890469 compensation which was subsequently paid in June.

Acting US Embassy Spokesman Glen Davis speaking to Ada Derana said that the American Embassy is looking into the matter.
