Now that the mainstream and low-end offer market has been outlined, Nvidia can start worrying about the next cards it wishes to bring in its battle for graphics supremacy. While most of the times new, unreleased cards are revealed in current drivers this time we are dealing with a somewhat bigger mistake from Nvidia as, a quick look over the release notes (page 30) of the ForceWare 158.19 display drivers will show us that the Green Goblin has a new card in the works, one called GeForce 8800 GS. While everyone has been talking about the hypnotizing 8800 Ultra, the forthcoming 8800 GS is just as interesting as it should fall between the 8600GTS and 320MB 8800GTS and bring the power and features of the high-end series at an even lower price range.
At this time one can only speculate as to the specifications of the upcoming card but, if we're permmited, we might see the card boasting a 320bit memory interface and being powered by a G80 chip (90nm or less) with a lower number of stream processors enabled than the 8800GTS (which has 96 stream processors). Wait for it.

WTF? Y r u smilin?I'm sad @ da moment they didnt released the 8800GS for about 220USD.
Oh y the MSI one?Its the only card that dont have that god damn reference cooler.
I will bet that it'll get heat up with it if we OCed.Wonder even XFX hav relesed their extreme(730MHz/2220MHz) with da stock cooler.BFG is alwayya reference.
I hope that ASUS will come with sumthing nice and late with a price tag that nobody buys.

I thought you would at least wait for ATI cards to come out. They are not that far out. Supposedly to be released at the end of this month. Besides, at this point, I wouldn't go for nVidia with all the Vista driver issues they have. But that's just me :)

Got it.
Asus EN 8600GTS
675MHz/2000Mhz
All reference 230USD
3 year warranty
XFX 8600GTS XXX edition
730MHz/2260MHz
All reference except clocks 230 USD
Double lifetime warranty
[Do I get my warranty even in hell when I die? No u moron,It means that If u sell this card to some one second hand that lucky folk will too get a lifetime warranty]
ANd only in LK we consider ASUS is best.
When we have options from XFX , BFG and PNY we dont wanna look for any other..also evga will give u a lifetime. The best part is the trust the manufacturer have over the card to give lifetime. Not that we get that.

Even chipset doesnt matter what VGA you use(But toms say nvidia support ATI well and vice cersa)I have a SLI chipset and mobo is everything set for nVidia. And I wont use vista till next January drivers are not an issue for me.Besides as I searched for the power requirements ATI loves much more power than nVidia.Power is a gr8 prob to me.And I'm not a hardcore gamer. So the stuff would satisfy me @ 1280 x 1024.
And a thing for th e buyers.
XFX is the VGA which hav sum high price and better performance. They hav dropped their 7900GS XXX(the best frm them in 7900 gs)frm 230 to 170 in last 2weeks.and with the mir It goes to 140.Thats a 90 USD drop frm XFX which is so surprising. That means the competitiveness in the market these days.
So there will be many new DX10 cards in the block,so if u r goin for DX 9 cards this is a good time and Aim for even a 7950GT 512MB one which is 190USD mark.

Anyways, nVidia have claimed that there won't be a 8800GS. They say that it was a typo that they put it on their site.
