Ash-Abhi set to tie the knot
Friday, April 20, 2007: (Mumbai):
It's the most hyped wedding of the year and it has finally arrived. Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan will get married on Friday at Amitabh Bachchan's Juhu bungalow Prateeksha.
The wedding venue has been turned into a virtual fortress. There's heavy security at the entrance and entry is strictly by invitation. Guests even have to leave their cell phones outside.
But the Bachchans are gracious hosts and they are making sure that guests don't have to suffer in Mumbai's sweltering heat.
The lawns of the Bachchan house have been soundproofed. A dozen air conditioners have been installed in the fully tented structure. The trees and bushes in the lawn have been trimmed and not felled and a stage has been set in far right corner.

She's a former Miss World and he's Bollywood's heartthrob with a Bachchan surname.
So if the two decide to tie the knot, no wonder it's going to be a high-profile celebration. Even bigger than the ones seen on the silver screen.
The would-be couple has made it clear that the wedding would be a family affair but NDTV has a whiff of what's cooking.
After the lavish sangeet that was out of bounds for the media, the mehendi ceremony is lined up next.
Fifteen kilograms of henna has been ordered from Sojat in Rajashan.
According to sources the mehendi ceremony will take place at Ash's house on Thursday evening. A ceremony will also be held at Abhishek's residence, Pratiksha.
The bride will be dressed in a red zari lehnga choli by designer Neeta Lulla. The guest list is small and elusive.

For Mumbai's glitterati lucky to get an invite to the Ash-Abhi wedding, finding a suitable gift isn't easy. But perhaps the finest gift for the hot jodi is being readied in Jaipur.
In Jaipur an artist inspired by a divine dream and mesmerised by the Bollywood beauty is creating 25 statues of Aishwarya, one of which is ready to be sent for the big day.
One of Jaipur's most gifted sculptors, Arjun says he's creating different moods of the former Miss World to fulfill a divine command he received in a dream last Diwali.
"Goddess Durga came in my dreams and told me that if I make idols of a beautiful woman, I will win laurels. I felt Aishwarya is the prettiest woman in the world and so I started making her statues," said Arjun Prajapati, sculptor.
Besides moulding a clay figure of Aishwarya as Menaka and a dancing pose enacted in Umrao Jaan, Arjun has worked overtime to complete her statue as an angel, which he wants to send as a wedding gift for Ash and Abhi.
"Two months ago, Amitabh Bachchan had bought 11 idols of Gods and Goddesses from me. Now I've worked day and night to complete this statue of Aishwarya so that I can give them a lovely gift for their wedding," said Arjun.
The artist has grown so fond of his Aishwarya creations that he has decided to not sell a single one of them.
But he wants to hold an exhibition of these for Bollywood stars where he hopes the Big B will come as Chief Guest.
