Bomb blast hits civilian bus in Sri Lanka's east, killing 15 people
About 15 civilians were killed and over 18 were injured as a private bus was blasted Monday by suspected Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka's east, defense officials said.
The explosion occurred at about 12:10 p.m. (0640 GMT) near an Army road block in the island country's eastern Ampara district, said the military spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe.
"The security forces suspect that the bomb would have been placed inside the bus by the LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam) to deliberately target civilians," Samarasinghe said.
The private bus was carrying passengers from Ampara to the Central provincial town of Badulla when it was caught in the blast.
The incident came after the defense authorities blamed LTTE rebels for murdering at least six civilians in a construction site also in the Eastern Province.
The construction workers, all from the majority Sinhala community were shot dead at Eravur in the Batticaloa district on Sunday night.
Government troops and the LTTE are currently being locked in fierce battles in the north and east.
More than 4,000 people have been killed since December 2005 despite a Norwegian-arranged truce in place.
The LTTE has been fighting for an independent homeland for Sri Lanka's 12.5 percent Tamil minority since the 1970s.

The twelve workers who were killed and the two who escaped death in the alleged Tiger attack at Omadiyamadu in the Welikanda area were engaged in an irrigation canal construction project for the Mahaweli Authority undertaken by a contractor.
The contractor was a businessman from Welikanda named P.G.A. Abeysuriya. Aged 50, he was popularly known as Mahadan Mudalali and was the president of the Traders’ Association there.
On May 29, the workers stopped work as usual around 5.00 pm. Suddenly, around 15 uniformed Tigers, armed with T 56 rifles are said to have surrounded the place.
What happened thereafter was known only to Upali Rajakaruna who escaped death and trudged to the Welikanda Police station and Priyadarshana Wijebandara who was admitted to the Polonnaruwa Hospital.
It was with injured Wijebandara’s tip-off that the security forces could initiate the Welikanda massacre investigations. According to Mr. Wijebandara, the LTTE surrounded them when they were about to get onto the tractor after completion of the day’s work.
“There were all 13 of us, including Mr. Abeysooriya, the contractor. The LTTE took us to Omadiyamadu from Ransaratenna. We were shot after we were made to kneel down, lined up and our hands were tied at the back. I escape after they left the place,” Mr. Wijebandara recollected.
“It was 2.00 pm when I reported for work after returning from my home at Galnewa, where I had gone on leave. Around 4.30 pm when the workers were getting ready to go home, about 15 Tigers came and surrounded the place.
“They tied our hands behind our backs. They did not instill any fear in us. They took our money and asked us how the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government was faring. Then suddenly I was shot and down I went. The blood of the man next to me was all over my body.
“I pretended to be dead. I saw one of my fellow-workers trying to get up and crying in pain. Around 7.00 pm I got up and left the place and walked to a Tamil populated village and from there to Welikanda,” Upali Rajakaruna said.

Relatives of victims of a May 29, 2006 shooting by LTTE Terrorists, attend a religious ceremony during their funeral in Maithreegama village in the outskirts of Walikanda
When the Police and SLMM visited the place it was already full with the public and reporters.
About 100 families were settled in Ranseratenna after it was named the Mahaweli B Zone. However, following the constant LTTE attacks, it became almost uninhabited, with all the paddy-fields being abandoned.
Omadiyamadu, located north of Ranseratenna is not under government control. Its residents live in constant fear that their children would become forced recruits of the LTTE and also being an area targeted by the Army.
P.G.A. Abeysuriya was awarded the Rs. 80 million Saudi Arabia-funded contract by the Authority. He recruited a large workforce from villages on a daily wage of Rs. 350.
Seven Mahaweli farmers from Maithregama village joined the workforce. Young men from Monaratenna village joined the team as tractor drivers.
Working hours were from 7.00 am to 4.30 pm. The workers resided 10 to 15 kms away from their site located about 20 kms from Welikanda in the Vakarai Grama Niladhari division.
The closest police station was at Valaichchenai. Though the area was supposed to be close to Tiger territory, the labourers went on with their work sans fear. However two residents of Mahasengama are reported to have been absent for two days due to the LTTE threats.
A relative of one of the dead men said the area was not suitable for farming. According to him leaders like D.S. Senanayake were of the opinion that this area was good only for growing trees as raw material for the Valaichchenai paper factory. He added that the people had left the area in fear of the Tigers.
Meanwhile, LTTE Eastern area chief Daya Mohan categorically denied the allegations that it was involved in the incident, stating that LTTE had no need of massacring innocent civilians.
The magisterial inquiry on the deaths was conducted by Polonnaruwa District Judge K. Sivagnanasunderam and Additional District Judge Ms. Chandanie Meegoda.

Norway and LTTE isolated
The LTTE is banned by the USA, Australia, India and in 2006 the 25 EU countries. Norway fight to avoid a LTTE terrorist listing failed miserably and the LTTE and Norway is now isolated in their view of murder of children, politicians and suicide terrorism is not terrorism.
Despite of Norway's support of the LTTE terrorism the LTTE is targeting Norwegians. In Norway Norwegians are threatened at gun point by the LTTE and the LTTE propaganda apparatus is issuing death threats against Norwegian citizens. In Sri Lanka the LTTE is targeting Norwegians in the SLMM and it is only a matter of time before the first body bags of Norwegian LTTE victims is sent back to Norway.
Erik Solheim has ignored request from Tamil dissidents to stop the LTTE genocide. Erik Solheim is obviously willing to sacrifice any number of life's in Sri Lanka to protect his friendship with the fascist LTTE terrorists. It seems Erik Solheim is willing to sacrifice the lives of Norwegians. Erik Solheim has become the modern version of Vidkun Quisling, the Norwegian traitor, who sacrificed the lives of Norwegians for Quisling friendship with the fascist Hitler regime.
The Norwegian support of the LTTE terrorism and other terrorist organisation has made the USA to request Norway "to evaluate their future relationship with the USA".

LTTE murders and torture of Europeans
In October 2004 LTTE murdered Hans Ulris Herpos, a 61 year old Swiss national. It seems the murder was carefully planned by the LTTE and the purpose was to blame the murder on the new party TMVP. Shortly after the murder the Norwegian based LTTE sympathising journalist N. Sethu (info) sent out an email where he said to the e-mail recipients to blame the murder on the new party "Tamil Eela Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal". However in their stupidity the LTTE had already extorted the old Swiss national so it was easy for the police to trace the murder to the LTTE.
The LTTE also tortured two Danish nationals. Fortunately the Danish Foreign office was able to get the LTTE to release the two Danish citizens. After the torture of the two Danish citizens it was revealed that LTTE front organisations are used to spy on Danish nationals. One of the front organisations involved in the spying has now been raided by the Danish police.

About the Tamil tigers
The Tamil tigers (LTTE) are responsible for terrorist activities in Sri Lanka and India. This organisation has made 168 suicide attacks in the period 1978-2000. LTTE is working actively in Norway and it's likely that several terrorist attacks is financed with funds raised in Norway. Among their activities are political work with the peace process and fundraising in the increasing Tamil community in Norway.
The LTTE is famous for it's violations of human rights. They kidnap children and use them as childsoldiers. Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch has appealed to the LTTE organisations in Norway and Internationally to abolish the use of children in their terrorism. The 7th July 2004 Amnesty again published a disturbing report about the LTTE beating the families of small children so they could use their children as soldiers.

The LTTE - Al Qaeda link
A report prepared by an advisor to the US Government on Terrorism proving links between Al Qaeda Terrorist Network and the LTTE:
Since the beginning of the contemporary wave of terrorism in the Middle East in 1968, terrorist groups differing in their ideologies have forged alliances to achieve tactical aims and objectives. The Al Qaeda- LTTE relationship comes within this category.
· Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) is a domestic group fighting to create a mono‑ethnic Tamil state. Its support network disseminating propaganda, recruiting, financing, training, procuring weapons and dual‑technology equipment and shipping ‑ spans about 50 countries. The LTTE is driven by ethnonationalist ideology. The group has conducted 220 land (including the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi Former Prime Minster of India) and maritime attacks (May 2001 est.).
· The Al Qaeda ‑ LTTE relationship was formed in 1991. Since then three foreign intelligence agencies have reported Al Qaeda ‑ LTTE transactions.
