Long queues were seen outside fuel stations in most parts of the country since last night over fears of a fuel shortage with trade unions including those attached to the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation threatening to go on a work to rule campaign tomorrow. Picture shows panic buying at a fuel station in the city today.

The trade unions of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the Ceylon Electricity Board and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board and the Sri Lanka Ports Authority told reporters today they will go ahead with their work to rule campaign from tomorrow despite the government assuring them a 22 percent salary hike effective November this year to be paid from January next year.

These people should be shown the JRJ Path. Let them go and ask the value of their leg from a disabled soldier who has lost them at war for the country. Look at the country country not the belly. I think the gov is giving broken promises to the innocent workers saying they will increse the salary by january.According my knowldge there will be a day the govermant want abale to pay a singel rupee to gov workers as a salary because of the gov correptions

Their salary should not be paid for these 3 days, and the essential services should be provided for the general public with the help of SL Armed forces.
