SRI-LANKA WAS ROBBED OF VICTORY.
By
Ananda Jayasinghe
I have done the Final Analysis of the World Cup and my firm conclusion is that Duckworth / Lewis Rule robbed Sri-Lanka of victory. This is one of the most stupid rules which can be compared next only to Soccer world Cup, where in the Soccer Finals if both teams have equal number of goals after all the allotted time, World Cup is decided by "Penalty Shoot Out" . I consider this to be even worst than ICC world Cup.
All newspapers reports about this match, which I have gone through so far, have not highlighted the flagrant violation caused to the team which bats later, by application of Duckworth / Lewis Rule.
What I write below may not be popular among "Top Notch" fellows in our Cricket board and ICC too.
There are too many "Nit Wits" holding '' Very Important'' positions in ICC and even in the Sri-Lankan Cricket Board. I call them the "Flannel Fools", I will be submitting more intricate analysis to them later.
I know that most of you are " Laymen" when it comes to cricket regulation, though you are great fans of our cricket giants. To make it simple I will enunciate the intricacies in adopting Duckworth / Lewis Rule .
On a rainy day, the team which bats first, is at a great advantage.
Why,
a ) The "Pitch Covers" and the other "ground" covers are removed only after the rain has ceased completely and the game will not commence, if the "Ground" is soggy.
b ) This means it is generally dry, but there may be few areas in the outer field which may not have dried out completely.
c ) Now just see what the Australian did. They took full advantage of 38 overs allotted. In bright sunshine they saw the ball clearly and started bashing the ball.
d ) Gilchrist was very lucky when Dilhara Fernando drop ''An Average" catch, on his own bowling, at his early innings. This paved the way for bigger bashing by Gilchrist.
e ) Even if Gilchrist got out, Australians had enough "Pinch Hitters" to easily achieve a score of 260, which is less , but good enough to win the under Duckworth / Lewis Rule.
f ) Then when Sri-Lanka commenced batting, Sanath and Sangakkara were gradually heading for a good score, even with rain interruptions.
g ) Umpires were in a "Daze" when the "Drizzle" came and they waited until it became a heavy shower to order the ground staff to bring and lay the "Covers"
h ) It was too late to prevent some water soaking into the pitch and even the outer field got affected and the umpire should have got reprimanded by the Match Referee, who was guzzling down "Whisky". This was demonstrated by him, when he even did not know when to apply the "Rules" later.
i ) When they continued the match later, mandatory 20 over to decide the game under Duckworth / Lewis Rule' have been completed and our team knew that we have virtually lost and thus has to accelerate the score if we are win.
j ) Under heavy dark clouds drifting towards the grounds, Sanath and Kumar did not have an option but to lash out at the bowing., " TO OVERCOME THE RULES"
k) It was very unfortunate that the whole complexion of the 'Pitch" had changed and the balls were keeping low and difficult to bat and the outer field too slow.
l ) Then when Kumar got out and with Sanath sacrificing his wicket in an injudicious manner, to reach a score to win the match, everything fell apart.
m) To make the situation worst dark clouds engulfed the grounds and the visibility became poor to bat properly and the last 11 overs were face in semi-darkness, according to cricketing world.
Please note that we had no choice but to contnue batting to beat Duckworth / Lewis Rule
n ) The last straw to the game, was when Mahela was given out LBW by Steve Buckner, for a ball going down outside the leg stump. I complained about Steve Buckner's umpiring to one of the top fellows in the ICC, even before I knew that he will be umpiring in the Final. I'm so frustrated about his umpiring, please pardon me, if I call him the Australian "Pimp."
According to ICC rules, I know that Sri-Lankan authorities or to that matter of fact any other team are unable to publicly condemn the umpires and other officials.
I wish if somebody can shed some light about our "Great White Parrot" Ranjit Fernando ( Who loves to kneel down and kiss the feet of all white men ) was up to, when the unprecedented "ICC World Cup Circus" was in full swing, with the Australian clowns performing the "Kangaroo Hop" in Barbados.
Finally, my strong conviction is that if Sri-Lanka batted first we would have won the "World Cup" as Australia would have lost under the stupid Duckworth / Lewis Rule .
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS ONLY THE BEGINNING OF BLASTING THE "ARROGANT PSYCHOPATHS"
IN THE INTERNATIONAL CRICKET BOARD.
IF THEY DON'T CHANGE THE RULES AND INTRODUCE ''FAIR-PLAY'' IN TO THIS PRESTIGIOUS GAME, IN DUE COURSE, I WILL SEE THAT THESE "TOP FELLOWS" IN ICC, ROAM AROUND THE PORTALS OF MCC, LIKE THE FAMOUS ANCIENT CHINESE EMPEROR WEARING AN INVISIBLE DRESS. !!!
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, CRICKET HAS SUFFERED ENOUGH, WITH "TOM FOOLS'' AT THE HELM. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
