Colombo: Sri Lanka government has decided to shift out several major sections of the Air Force base adjoining the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake.

These sections will be shifted to the Hingurakgoda airport situated about 200 kilometers north of capital Colombo in Polonnaruwa district.

The necessity to shift the vital military sections away from the international airport was emphasized by many sectors after the Tamil Tigers’ recent air raids.
