The Military Police last night had attempted to remove from the possession of recently retired Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Sarath Fonseka a number of vehicles and security personnel provided to him by the army, sources in the Generals Office told Daily Mirror online.
However after having spoken to the General the Military Police had left the premises of his official residence without carrying out their intended action.
“The General explained to them his need for security and the Military Police stated that they regretted having to carry out their orders from above, despite their solidarity to the General,” sources in the Generals Office claimed.
