Sri Lanka's electricity tariff to go up

May 14, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Ministry of Power and Energy will soon seek approval for an electricity tariff hike, Ministry sources said.
The relevant Cabinet paper will be submitted to the Cabinet within the coming weeks.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) is running at even higher losses due to recent fuel price increases and has made an announcement explaining the necessity of the tariff increase.
The CEB is still calculating the tariff hike to be introduced, CEB sources said.
