You are better off asking here machang http://ubuntuforums.org/
Not sure with the 7.x but with 6.x I had to manually put some additional lines get the nvidia working properly..

first off, backup your xorg.conf
shouldnt the driver be "nv" isntead of "nvidia" in this section :
Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic Video Card"
Driver "nvidia"
BusID "PCI:0:5:0"
EndSection
change to
Section "Device"
Identifier "Generic Video Card"
Driver "nv"
BusID "PCI:0:5:0"
EndSection
also comment out/remove this part :
# 1024x768 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 47.70 kHz; pclk: 64.11 MHz(this is found by nvidia ubuntu forum.but not working---this part is not in original conf file)

messing with hsync and vsync is a good way to blow your monitor.
what's your monitor and what the resolutions it supports and whats it's hsync vsync values ?
If youre not sure about the hsync, vsync values, play it safe and change this bit :
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Generic Monitor"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 28-51
VertRefresh 43-60
to :
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Generic Monitor"
Option "DPMS"
HorizSync 28-49
VertRefresh 56-70
and restart X
