This time Fonseka following his 40 years of military service has entangled with the wrong female and non-other than Editor-in-Chief of pro-UNP weekend portal, The Sunday Leader.
Coincidentally, Fonseka following his commission as a second-Lieutenant in the Army was found and charged guilty for raping a housemaid employed in a near by officer mess and that also during the early days of his military career. Thus Fonseka subsequently became the first Army Chief to be deprived of the Uttama Seva Paddakkama(USP), a medal only worn by officers with an unblemished military service over 20 years.
Ironically, even before his full fledge transition into a politician Fonseka has committed the same in a different context. Unable to intimidate Mrs. Fredrica Janz to make an apology white washing his ‘marks of treason’ printed on the 13 Dec, Sunday Leader, Fonseka has declared war against the former..
Fonseka has brought his media policy to light and no mistake it’s ‘The Leader’ Editor again.
Having hosted a lavish dinner plus cock-tail party to a selected crowd of print and electronic media personnel a few weeks ago, Fonseka has urged their uncompromised assistance to hunt down Mrs. Janz and every journalist critical of his ideologies.
According to reliable sources, SFB learns that the Fonseka brothers (the same men alleged for spotting Mr. Wickramathunga until his point of attack), Lanka-e-news, Ruwan Weerakoon and Ranil Wijayapala have been entrusted with the task of charter assassination of Mrs. Janz. It is also learnt that Fonseka has ordered both his media mafia and his clan of Army deserters to take hold of his recorded interview with Mrs. Janz at any cost.
Astonishingly, until the point of reporting no media right organization or media freedom activist has come forward to ensure the right of reporting of the fourth state.
