well.....buddism is a very interesting religion to follow with many values...i agree that people should respect the monks....but i have one questions....r they just doing the things that they have to??? i mean y did they have to mix up religion n politics....because of politics most of the monks r looked at from a very different angle.....people dont have the same respect for them as before...this doesnt however mean that every monk is wrong.....i think they should learn to keep politics out of religion...they shudnt mix the up.....

the muslims take action wen sum insults their religion ....so y shudnt we sri lankans take action or do sumthing abt it wen foreigners insult our religion??????

frankly speaking i dont think that sri lanka is in a position to by itself take any action against it...n now adays people r moving away from religion due to their so called busy schedules.....

in that case in srilankan politics thatz the main problem...lots of politicians are not care about the country or the people..they always thinking about there pocket n them selfs..so they wont do anything if getting case on there budgetary level.. they wont care about country or the people or our ancient history...just the MONEY dude...
if some one get rising for that matter they are promised to keep that person ded silent..so no one willing to take reactions cz of this politico...as a srilankan all them politicians can make sound against that but thinking about there personal benefits and some advantages, it made them silent...

It is not a pleasure to see how some acts of businesses/individuals disrespect buddhism but we all must realise being the bottom end of a minor religion in the world, our voices wont be heard.. in other words, if someone used Allah's image on a slipper, its guranteed there will be afew bomb blasts in the western world..if someone used Jesus's face on a condom you can expect the same thing. And those very behaviours of the other religions reflect how peacefull, mercifull and tolerant the Buddihsm is... We must appriciate that very fact and mind you Buddhism is the only religion which has NOT involved in ANY war, by the name of religions!!

So we should be proud of ourselves as Buddhists..let the others diss buddhism, we'll prove we are always better than them by NOT reacting!

Finally, not to forget Buddha's "Ata lo dahama" .. specially "Ninda Prashansa" part..

Machang Vajira, I get your point..im not taking the dirty politician's side, but before go out and get the merchants and individuals to stop doing this to buddhism, i guess the sri lanka has more issues to resolve first. I totally agree with you, there's a "Budda sasana amathyanshaya" to involve in these matters but as you, me and we all know it never happenes.

But of course this can be changed. But the truth is no one who has the power wouldnt!! Thats an attitude issue of our beloved rotten politicians as they wouldnt wanna favour one religion because they fear they'd lose their precious votes from the people who represent other religions...but guess what, its totally bullshit as i am pretty sure, for some good luck, Sri Lankan general public DO NOT think like that!

This is the only country which is left today with the "less contaminated buddhism" so we should safe guard the presious little what we have... this is why we worry the most!! but other ppl miss interprit this... our monks went to parliment because of this and not for any other damn reason... they have done several great jobs that no one will ever dare to impliment (EG: banning of smoking at public places)... every body! remember this is a golden era for our country and our nation...there are number of good ppl in our parliment...genuine charactors...who really works for the development of our country but there are several groups who dont tolarate these good actions and the progress....coz LTTE loosing its strenth... so they try to create different fals stories and alligations against them....Our buddhist monks went there just because to take few steps no one has ever dare to take...THEY WERE PROTECTING OUR NATION SINCE ANCIENT TIMES...IF THEY WERE NOT THERE AT THAT TIME WE ARE NOT HERE TO DAY CHATTING LIKE THIS.... so dont blaim them.... this is the time that we should support our gov to eleminate these LTTE terrorist basterds....
