Maybe they can turn off one video card completely when they are not being used. It's not impossible that two lower clocked cards to draw less power than one higher clocked card, at least not while gaming. Unlike CPUs, video cards don't have much power saving features.

Seems This was out in the market since this Monday.So not many hav experiences of this yet.

There was a forum comment on this mentioning this has a low power using mod too.
Turning off SLi and slowing down cpu.
