The Government yesterday reiterated its stand that if the LTTE was really interested in solving the ethnic problem through negotiations, then LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran himself must invite the Government for talks, in writing .
Defence spokesman Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said it was Prabhakaran who had to invite the Government––not Tamilselvan or Erik Solheim.
He warned that if the LTTE resorted to violence during talks, the government would resort to all possible means to safeguard national security interests.
Referring to the last peace talks in Oslo, Rambukwella described it as an LTTE teledrama. "We won’t allow the LTTEto travel round the world behind the facade of peace talks in the future," he said.
