It's great! Thanks

I've used Firefox for sometime. Then somebody recommended Opera. It's the best browser in my opinion. It has much more features than ie or Firefox and quite faster rendering speed. But I must admit it's too slow to load.

I'm going to try Safari later. :)

It is not slow. It is faster than most. But it is a real RAM eater. You can easily get the RAM usage to 500MB in a short while.

You can't customize it the way you want it. It doesn't behave like a program designed for Windows (I mean, things people expect to happen, just don't happen)

Lots of usability issues are there. If you need speed and security, use Opera. If you need to be able to customize and better support for third party software, you Firefox.

WoW! those are all Mac OS characteristics. Imposible to customize, RAM guzzler. I think those things are also in itunes and quicktime for windows.

iTunes is sluggish, but doesn't consume that much RAM under normal conditions. But if you enable Cover Flow View, it goes up to 500MB in my PC (it depends on how many cover arts you have)

The program which eats most RAM for me is Opera. Bit too slow to load. Might be because it has 3 or more years of my browsing history. Over 100 saved sessions[I've never visited them again even I saved them], favorites list [list too large that I can't organize it], it even logs to some irc servers, several widgets and has a customized appearance. Thankfully my mail and rss is managed by Thunderbird.

Not even photoshop needs RAM as opera.

Actually I use photoshop a lot. Use it for graphics sometimes A4 size. Yet it doesn't take much RAM even with my sloppy designing skills.

Back to topic, Firefox has about 14.55% marketshare as I saw on wikipedia. I'll like to see it growing. People use IE coz it come default with windoze. They're not aware about better alternatives out there.:growl:

Safari is based on the Konqueror browser. So any thing Safari claims to have must come through Konqueror. Konqueror is supposed to have better css and jscript support.
http://www.konqueror.org/
I always viewed konqueror as a bloated file manager. :(
Nothing seems to get me out of opera.;) ;) ;)

Opera was crashing constantly on Vista x64 and I guess it was a problem with my profile. I deleted the profile (I could afford to do that since it's only 1 day old :D) and it hasn't crashes eversince.

Can some Opera fan suggest me an adblocker which can block not just the urls (which is inbuild in Opera) but ad frames as well? The content blocker doesn't seem to "catch" adframes :(

I'm not an opera expert. But as I remember you could block frames with the supplied content blocker. But you have to train it.

I googled about blocking frames and found this stuff on neowin forums.

http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=374240&st=15&p=588191864&#entry588191864

They tell about a jscript files to download from this site which can block inline frames (I've not tested this myself)

;) ;) Opera is faster than FF, I mean not in loading time. But in rendering webpages.:D :D

You know why IE is the fastest to load among browsers? It load some of it's stuff at startup so when you actually want to open IE it has less stuff to load.

Opera loads lot faster than Firefox as well. TBH, my Firefox profile is much much bigger than Opera's...

However, IE is separate from Explorer in the case of Vista, so your argument is not quite valid there. Hell, Vista prefetches EVERY program you use :D

It uses what you have, and free whenever you need them for something else. Even XP prefetches a lot.

Looks like I have many things to learn. But I'll never go vista, not too soon. About XP I've edited the startup and services through msconfig. The only icons displaying in the taskbar now is ZoneAlarm and Network. ;)
My linux habits demand XP to be hacked and polished out, so it will work the way I want. I'll go on experimenting with XP on my desktop. But I still couldn't bring myself to change the OEM version in my notebook.

Meanwhile I'm trying to use apple safari. It's fast but there must be someway to remove that bar(book sign apple amazon ebay etc) below the toolbar. Also the toolbar have a bug icon. Lack of customization is something which will get a big negative point form me. No safari for me. Opera is too addictive, I use it even in linux.
