One guy told me that we have to register phones brought from another countery in TRC ( Telecom Regulatory Commision) or somewhere and otherwise, we would get caught.
He said that he purchased a phone from Ebay and he registered it.

Hi, this is very good question. actualy if you register your phone with TRC, you can block your phone by using the IMEI number in case if you lost it. unfortunately there are no such services in srilanka :( . but many EU and western countrys keep all of these details in their files

You mean that if we bring 5 or more phones from another country, we will have to pay Rs. 12,000/= per phone as custom duty and we will have to register them in SLT?
