IP forwarding

I was wondering why torrents are downloding very slow only on my pc even i have forwarded my ip. It was like 3-12 kbps :growl: :angry: :angry:

After about 3 months today i just checked the router rules and damn...............:shocked: :shocked: :shocked:

All this time i had forward it to a different ip. Damn....:angry: :angry: :angry:
I have forward it to "192.165.0.3" while my real ip is "192.165.0.5". :sorry: :sorry: :sorry:

Just changed it and waloo 42-52 kbps :) :) :) :) :) :cool: :cool:

So all those who are getting very low torrent down rate just verify your ip forward status. :yes: :yes: :yes: :yes:

That is a different thing. If you are not using a router then you dont have to worry about IP forwarding.

You are using ADSL da? Tha chances are that your IP will change every few days. Best option is to forward only the port and statically assign a private ip for your PC. So the connection will always look as if it comes from routers public IP with the relevant port.

I did Network and Telecommunication so i know what is hapenning with ADSL. What i've said is i have given wrong private ip for the router. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Set the private IP static then :) shouldn't be a problem if u own the network. By the way how did you end up with a 192.165.x.x for a private ip?

My mistake it is 192.168.x.x.........

Im using an Edimax AR-7024A router and so far all of my port forwarding worked fine. Today all of a sudden I saw that Azureus has gone red and yellow on NAT and DHT, and when I checked, even though the router states that it does port forwarding, the thing seems to have stopped. Anyone who had this sort of a problem with edimax? Or can this be a totally different thing?

I think I sort of troubleshot this to the windows firewall. I installed service pack for the second time (dont ask me why, even i cant figure out why i did it :confused: ) It might have blocked. I checked with some online port checker sites, and the message I get for ports that are forwarded and not are different. (timed out vs. refused). Will post more later.

I think u need to try ur port forwading settings in ya router....if u doesn't have a static IP then it will be a fault sometimes.Try opening few port numbers and give it to Azureus and make exceptions in ya firewall as well...Azureus NAT/Firewall test will be useful for ya....

Yeah well thats what I first used to troubleshoot. I had the port forwarding rules correct and according to azureus, it wasnt forwarding. So I tried to run the azureus and try to connect its listen port via a telnet. And the telnet failed, so I thought it must be the routers fault.

Later I checked with some websites that check the extrenal-internal port connectivity. The ports that I have forwarded gives a different message than the non forwarded ports (timed out vs. Refused). So I thought may be the router does forward the ports, but the OS stops them. (Quite possible cos I messed with SP2 that day). Im planning to reinstall the OS today, will post after that :)

Well reinstalled the OS. (Repair didnt work). The system is now working well, but quite obviously I cant tell what was exactly the problem. All I can say is that the router was not faulty.
