The Elections Commissioner has ordered that persons who have returned from overseas and want to vote will have to produce their passport to vote.
He said the data of those who have returned from overseas has already been obtained through the Grama Sevakas.
The Commissioner said that the decision was taken following reports that persons were planning to use forged ID cards of those abroad and were trying to vote.
Earlier reports said that some 150,000 forged ID cards had been printed.
