You want to keep yourself from entering sites full of virus, malware or any other unwanted things.
Go to www.siteadvisor.com
Download the site advisor
You'll have to restart internet after you finish downloading.
Now for example, go to the site www.screensaver.com
You'll see that the site advisor has turned "Red" which means it has lots of problems. You can view the detail report by clicking on the site advisor button. It'll show you what that website can do to you if you register or download something.
Even if you google something, all the results will be rated by this advisor. "Green" button is ok.
I think those who already have the McAfee software have this one also by default.
